Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I think saying "at most" is very important here. :) Also in your bug report, you used the words, "a clear winner (i.e., an undefeated player) will emerge", which is clearly not true.

Hence my reference to previous poorly worded descriptions. Oh well. At least they implemented some version of this, albeit in an opaque way (and without acknowledging the suggestion). But by guarantee a clear winner I mean you won't have a situation where two undefeated people never play each other.

So if I understand correctly, setting the tournament to automatic means the tournament will go on until there is one single winner?

I guess that would be relatively easy to check in this case, but it'd be nice to have the confirmation that this is how it works.
I mean all it really needs is them to state how it works somewhere. If you add an option like this, it's very hard for players to just work out the specifics as it probably needs a lot of trials. I was familiar for example with the formula that Meeplelowda posted as that's how a Magic: The Gathering tournament would work and base it's number of rounds, however as they point out it doesn't appear to be following that anyway, and when you throw into the mix multi-player tournaments who knows how it works if they don't tell us.
