Thank you so much for organizing that back then and for taking the time to do it. I took two sets right away so I could play against my wife using the same maps; just yesterday I barely (1 ticket!) won, playing with map 4a.

I find this decision extremely authoritarian. You are purely and simply stripping away our choices, without consulting the community and without providing any real explanation as to why you are doing this.

With over 4,500 games under my belt, this change completely kills my desire to play. In fact, I am seriously considering asking BGA for a refund on my subscription for this year.

This is a completely absurd decision and a massive mistake on your part.

Do you understand that they don't have a say in the matter ?

I'm sure it worked out just fine with screenshots, but I'll note that the publisher has posted pdfs of the alternate maps (link) for those who want to do them print and play.

If this change was for balance reasons then that should be stated and these should be considered "revised" maps. At bgg though this is presented as "streamlining the experience". I dont know what that even means, but I don't want ANY aspect of my "experience" being dictated by ANY publisher/developer/author. The only way I will ever ENJOY something is HOW I CHOOSE TO. This feels very controlling. I get enough CONTROL from the government/corporations. I dont need it in my boardgames.

If it was for balance reasons, I would probably be ok with it, but feel it could have been handled better. Otherwise I will be obligated to stop playing this game. I cannot support board game authoritarianism. (Really hoping for balance here.. i really like Ark Nova)

Indeed. I strongly dislike these maps and the way they force them on me.
I will cancel mysbscription since Ark Nova is almost the only game I play here.

This.
No real explanation.
No need to deactivate 10 maps on short notice.
I admit I only found out today, as I usually activated the alt-maps, and only wondered that maps 9+10 did not show up for a while,
but this is just riduculous and cutting down our choices for no good reason at all. Feuerland does not even bother to post here and not answering on BGG, very bad habit.
I decided to cancel my pre-order for The Danes; not going to reward their neglect towards long-term supporters.

edit:
Meanwhile Feuerland bothered to answer on BBG

- as they do not here where it matters, cite:

Its great to see so many people being passionate about or games.
We understand a decision like this will never feel right to everyone and there are people missing the removed options. Our decision also in no way means that we think that the base game maps or maps 9 and 10 are not worth playing, on the contrary.
But we made this decision to reduce the number of options overall and therefore allow more games to start instead of people waiting for another table with just the right set of options activated. And these 2 options were the ones with the biggest concensus amongst players. Therefore they were the collateral damage in the quest for reducing the wait time and getting more people to play Ark Nova instead of waiting to play (Of course compared to other games wait time for Ark Nova is and was relatively short, but it was getting longer recently in our experience).
We will monitor the overall number of games played and we are ready to reverse/change our decision if needed, but so far this does not look necessary (but its only been 11 days).

Not convincing at all.
Most troubling is "allow more games to start instead of people waiting for another table with just the right set of options activated", which is punishing premium members in favour of non-paying, and "And these 2 options were the ones with the biggest concensus amongst players" which is most irritating as to my knowlegde there was never any "consensus" looked for.

After this answer, I am likely more mad about Feuerland than before.
