Yeah, but your ability to complete RT games does not necessarily demonstrate your ability to stay current on 100+ turn-based games (not a made up number), so I understand this restriction.

Re: Restriction on Turn Based games
Hmm, OP is now has 12 turn-based games going, but only one more recently completed turn-based game.Shivaware wrote: ↑29 July 2026, 03:02I did go through OPs game history, and it's possible that they have only completed 4 turn-based games, and all the rest were real-time. Looking through the forums, someone believed that new accounts started with a limit of 4 simultaneous turn-based games, and this number increased by 1 every time you completed a turn-based game. That would be consistent with your limit of 8 right now.nik592 wrote: ↑29 July 2026, 02:05 There is definitely restrictions on how many tables you can join while you're new/haven't played many tables, but the OP has been a member since 2023 and has played 166 games in the last 60 days (and only one quit and one time penalty, which is pretty minimal). So I wouldn't expect their number of tables to be limited. This might be a case where you need to contact BGA support and ask them - it feels like a bug with your account to me.
Thank heavens BGA isn't spoiling our fun by documenting how this actually works anywhere
Re: Restriction on Turn Based games
I don't think this is likely at all, because in that case all it would take is one new player to subscribe to a round robin tournament and immediately their games wouldn't all be able to start because their threshold isn't high enough yet.
If this was true we would have heard about it by now or seen it happen ourselves, and it would have been changed a long time ago. OP's issue must be something a lot more specific to their account. There is no reason to believe that there is any kind of restriction based on account's history, unless that is an extremely high number.

Again, none of this is documented by BGA, so this is all speculation, but...tbhp wrote: ↑30 July 2026, 02:42I don't think this is likely at all, because in that case all it would take is one new player to subscribe to a round robin tournament and immediately their games wouldn't all be able to start because their threshold isn't high enough yet.

The limitation of turn-based games for new accounts is likely to the point of certainty, but it probably doesn't apply to tournaments for the reasons you are bringing up. I'm guessing it only prevents you from starting turn-based PLAY and ARENA tables, but your tournament games can start and push you over your limit.
Re: Restriction on Turn Based games
There is definitely a limit on TB games when you start on BGA - I remember hitting it more than once. It starts at one I believe, and goes up for each game you finish. I think it stops limiting you somewhere around the 8-10 mark maybe? I certainly never hit limits after about that point, but then I don't know that I started running 60+ games at once at that early point either (I also felt like I needed to go a bit slower in terms of figuring out how many games I could handle at once).Shivaware wrote: ↑30 July 2026, 03:08 The limitation of turn-based games for new accounts is likely to the point of certainty, but it probably doesn't apply to tournaments for the reasons you are bringing up. As for tournaments (and Arena), most have a minimum 100 Elo threshold (Arena certainly) which would prevent absolute newbies from joining them. But you may be right that tournament games may not be counted in limits.
Sure, but like I said, I don't think it takes a huge number of finished games to hit the unlimited point. Your ability to handle 10 games simultaneously and 100 are quite different too. I feel like the restriction is more to prevent people who join BGA, start a bunch of games, then vanish and/or forget all about it. I've had several (IRL) friends do this to me - couldn't even get one game off the ground with them, in spite of them originally being interested. So they're not people I play on here with anymore, and they only disappointed me and my other friends, but if you could start 100 games from the get go, and then lose interest, or realise you can't keep up after a few days, I can see some people causing a lot of problems. But just speculation on my part, obviously only those who put the limits in place can tell you their reasons.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑30 July 2026, 00:19Yeah, but your ability to complete RT games does not necessarily demonstrate your ability to stay current on 100+ turn-based games (not a made up number), so I understand this restriction.

Re: Restriction on Turn Based games
I completely agree. In fact, they should have a mechanism for placing the limit back on if you show that you can't keep up. But instead they rely on karma which is an ineffective tool for this purpose because it is far too easy to earn back.

Re: Restriction on Turn Based games
That makes sense, if it exists only for those games then I never would have noticed. Although, I do remember that when I was playing my first turn based Arena games, they seemed to take forever to launch at the beginning. I always thought that it was maybe a priority thing, not a literal restriction. It would go a day without launching, but I didn't interpret it as a restriction because there wasn't any message or anything.Shivaware wrote: ↑30 July 2026, 03:08 The limitation of turn-based games for new accounts is likely to the point of certainty, but it probably doesn't apply to tournaments for the reasons you are bringing up. The funny thing is that there are trophies for playing 10, 20, 50, 100 games simultaneously. Those trophies could be the reason some people choose to start so many games (and possibly fail at keeping up).
