You're missing the point why automated methods (such as robots, spiders, multiple queries, etc.) are not allowed.

If it creates a drain on system resources, that is a valid reason by BGA. I would think there would be ways around that, such as adding a second tier of premium to generate more revenue, perhaps?

I'm of course not a BGA admin so I can only speculate.
A fear of a drain in system resources could be the main reason and therefore also a fear of extra workload for the admins to review every external program.
Few bots were allowed in a supervised restricted environment for a limited time, but then the developers asked the admins for permission before the bots accessed BGA.
Just for justice reasons the admins would ban any bot (or spider) where the developer didn't ask for permission first. This should not be a popularity contest.
And why should this tfmbot be allowed but not also bots from other developers? Soon BGA would have to assure that the majority of matches are not by bots playing with themselves or other bots for training or competitions to find the better bot.

I loved playing the bot. It was something I could casually play on my phone and try out oddball strategies. The solo version of TM gets stale quick but a real 2p game versus the bot was still engaging after 30 games with it.

And the idea that he was banned for being premium is simply not the case. BGA would of nuke the bot even if it was set for premium players only as they have done elsewhere on the site.

Honestly, Im done with TM. After I made my goal of 700 elo and top 10 arena there wasn't a whole lot of motivation to keep grinding because realistically I was never going to go much higher than that. The bot was the one thing keeping me around. If Venus comes or we get a colony or 3P+ season I will definitely try those out, but after 1000+ 2p b+p games I'm a bit burned out.

You have to keep going, hit 800 top 3 arena at least. You must've got better after grinding with the bot, try your new skill ceiling out, don't get scared of your new understandings, play them.

If BGA has another pay tier for bot play I would pay for it. Because honestly, I never felt the need for premium.

Hitting 700 just make you competent bc 600 are just food for top players. You just starting your TM journey.
