Re: Increase penalty for quit/timeout in arena
If you give them an ELO or Arena rating penalty you're also punishing their next opponents who will gain fewer points or lose more points. I would prefer someone that quits regularly to just be banned from playing Arena or possibly a specific game.Dannerz wrote: ↑25 September 2026, 05:04 I have seen an uptick in people rage-quitting multiplayer arena games. I'd like to suggest that the ELO penalty for quitting/timing out to be more severe, for example 2x loss of ELO & arena points for quitting instead of just playing the game out. I'm sure this has been discussed in more detail on other threads but it's getting quite frustrating when people quit 95% of the way through a game just because they didn't get the action choice they wanted.
Make the penalty more harsh.
Thank you,
Re: Increase penalty for quit/timeout in arena
That would be something. That would be a real punishment for people involved in that, and other forms of real cheating. Like multi accounts, kingmaking, stalling and quitting to deny a winner full ELO points for win. Block them for entire season, strip them from unfairly obtained ELO/badges etc. Block the from getting ELO for a month. That look like real punishment for me. More karma or more ELO lost is nothing.

Well, you're the one who is complaining that these bugs aren't fixed despite that the solution is -- as you said -- quite simple. Perhaps you should remember that nearly everything you see on this site is made by voluntary work.
I've not encountered any bugs recently AND when i had run into one some years ago i didn't thought it would be easy to fix.

Another typical response. Be grateful for poor volunteer's work or do it yourself.Fuchur wrote: ↑01 October 2026, 19:46

I encountered a lot of bugs if you are interested, look up for them.

Wow. What a terrible philosophy. Good thing you're no in charge. So, by your reasoning, if I understand correctly, BGA is so poorly done that you wish it didn't exist at all?
Do you have a list of companies that provide more value at $4 a month than BGA does?

Well, i'm grateful for all of the work these people are doing so that i can play some of my favorite games and discover others. If you're not satisfied with the service -- there are other sites. Perhaps you will find something you like better.tarongot wrote: ↑01 October 2026, 20:10Another typical response. Maybe someone better will come to do it. And if not, its better to not have something then have it poorly made.

Why should I (or anybody else) look up your bug reports ? Basically you are saying : "Everything you do is rubbish, you're too slow -- here are my commands : I want them done until yesterday."
If i would encounter someone with that attitude i would put his reports in the basket "NO deadline"
Re: Increase penalty for quit/timeout in arena
Some parts of BGA works great, others are terrible. Some of game developers are at the highest level, others would be better off never being allowed to implement games ever again.FrankJones wrote: ↑01 October 2026, 20:26Wow. Maybe you're so used to accepting mediocre quality that you can't imagine anything better, and you feel need to defend that. Maybe you feel need to justify that your " $4 a month" is well spent. I won't help you with that. Maybe you can only see 0 or 1 and nothing between. That is terrible philosophy.
Above seems to fits to Fuchur as well.
Or maybe that is your projection. Maybe I like BGA good enough so I would like it to be better. Maybe I see great unused potential in it.Fuchur wrote: ↑01 October 2026, 20:26

No surprise that someone used to accepting mediocre quality, not able to imagine anything better, reacts with aggression and fear on critic.

Maybe Fulchur and I (and many thousands of others) disagree with your assessment of BGA as "mediocre."tarongot wrote: ↑01 October 2026, 20:39

Anyway, if it's so bad, you know where the nearest exit is.
