I mean, the code that necessitated this change was almost certainly generated by an LLM with minimal if any human oversight, and it was deployed to production by a product owner that's just out to meet an OKR, so "the person who created" isn't a thing that exists for anyone to be upset at

I tested tournaments with the classic game Go, and it was an odd experience.

The game is played on a 19x19 grid, so it has 361 empty spaces to choose from. Even in real-time time, the games can get long. And when you play it as a one move per day pace, I'll tell you it's long.
For some reason, conceding a game is not an option in a tournament game.
This needs to get fixed.
It's impolite not to concede on a game of go, when the game is clear - because the chances of elongating the game with meaningless moves is huge.
Conceding is a good and expected, and should be encouraged, method of ending this game in particular.
With childish players, in a tournament setting, the silly part of a game could take months.

As a slight addition, as it's a thinking game and time is used as a limiting factor, losing game on time also should NOT reduce karma at all, or at least not by much. The clock is there to point out that the faster thinker was the better player, but losing on time does not mean the person losing was doing anything wrong.

This was one of the best recent changes in the old UI, so of course they got rid of it. /s

The link to the tournament is gone and replaced with "Fast Scoring" for Azul, which may be one of the most useless pieces of information in one of the most valuable pieces of screen real-estate. Now it's back to multiple clicks, scrolls, zoom outs - worse than before.

It's shockingly comical how ill conceived these changes were designed and implemented. It's like an way to early April fool's joke.

I'm sad that some of these items I already included in the feedback when the new tournament layout was tested in labs, and the problems still made it to the final release. I wonder if the feedback form really serves a purpose.

Rukus McUallas wrote: 19 February 2026, 19:02 If you really want to improve BGA, add categories beyond "favorite". Ideally editable. Atm I just add all the "games I'd like to try" to my favorites, clogging up that list. It's far too big. There are just too many games on BGA for a simple single favorites listing. I'd love to have a "like to try" list separate from my favs. Or separate favorites lists, like for heavy games, fillers etc. It'd reduce scrolling significantly on mobile devices.
This functionality already exists, though it is not the most intuitive to find. Next to the “Add to favorites” button is a little “+” button. Clicking that brings up a pop up, and at the bottom of said pop up is a link to create new lists. Once you’ve created other lists, they work like tags; i.e., a single game can be added to more than one list.

I use it very similarly to what you described: I have a list for games I want to try, for those I have played and not won yet, those I own a physical copy for, etc.

Once you’ve created other lists, they show up as tabs at the top of the “Games” page.
Thanks for pointing this out, it's a really nice feature that I think few people know about!

Unfortunately, it is apparently restricted to premium members only. Not sure what happens to those added categories when premium runs out and is renewed later...

Regarding the new tournament pages, I agree with pretty much all the points mentioned so far. Just a few more suggestions that I have not seen so far:

- for the list of available tournaments, when I click on "show 12 more" at the bottom, on PC, the view jumps to the bottom of the list and I have to scroll up to see all of the added games, having to memorize where the end of the list was previoulsy. On mobile, the view remains where it was, i.e. the last tourney before the newly added is still visible. Please make it that way (again) on PC, as well. Ideally, make it possible to add more than just 12 more.

- it would be nice to have the name of the game shown a bit more prominently in the list view instead of (on mobile) just showing the game box image (and even that is much smaller than the icon of the tournament in question, which is unnecessarily huge on my mobile screen)

- for the tournament state on mobile, in addition to the comments already made, I think it would be nice if I could zoom out a bit more, ideally to the point where I cann see the entire bracket or table on one screen.

Also, for round robin type tourneys, I would love to have the games start consecutively, instead of all at the same time. If I understood correctly, that has not been possible to set up previously, and is still not possible. I find it a bit confusing to have a 10 or more matches of the same game running in parallel, and therefore I have largely avoided RR tourneys.

I'm sorry, but I don't like the "not going back" design.
Even Yahoo Mail allows me to 'go back' to Classic design.

For one thing, it's taking me a lot longer to pick out a Tournament I want to join.

I don't play this on mobile and I'm irked that BGA has decided that "Mobile is the Future" and are disregarding computer gamers.
There should be two designs, one for Mobile and one for 'land based' gaming.

#1 suggested tweak: Make it obvious what the minimum number of players are for the Tournament to become active.
I don't like joining Tournaments that disappear without notice.

#2 suggested tweak: Get rid of "Recommended for you". I don't like being told what my interests and preferences are!
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, AMAZON???

EDIT: Example: When searching for Downforce tournaments, BGA is "Recommending" tournaments that are NOT Downforce.
PLEASE STOP THAT!

In the participant list, some players' Elo wrongly display as 0.

Not an improvement for participants. Too much unhelpful information to wade through when I just want to see wins & losses or bracket. Would very much like to see those totals below the active game screen like used to be available instead of having to go through these busy new pages.

Two more issues:

1. The "Game library" setting does not remember your previous selection. So every time you open the page, it defaults to "Games you know". I've played over 400 titles on BGA, so it is not helpful at all to me. This was not the case before.

2. I'm getting recommended my own drafts as the "Recommended tournament". Why?
