If I understood correctly, that has not been possible to set up previously, and is still not possible. I find it a bit confusing to have a 10 or more matches of the same game running in parallel, and therefore I have largely avoided RR tourneys.
Please do NOT implement this as a default behaviour. Tournament organizers can use Swiss style tournaments to prevent matches running in parallel if that is important to them. As a tournament organizer and player, the parallel feature for round-robin tournaments is very desirable to me. However, like Zwack_42, I will avoid RR tournaments with too many players. For me, my cutoff is 11 players (10 games each) - I don't enter RR tournaments with more than 11 players, and I don't create RR tournaments with more than 11 players.

If this feature is considered for implementation, it should be implemented as an option controlled by the tournament organizer during creation. Then, organizers and players can make decisions that work for them.

Appreciate the effort to continue to improve the site. Certain elements are more visually appealing and easier to read then before, but I feel you have gone backwards in other areas. My issues so far:

1. Not being able to find yourself in the bracket. Used to be highlighted and easier to find in a big draw, but really hard now
2. The standings for group stage/round robin tournaments with the expanded view to see the tiebreaker categories being gone is poor
3. Before, it was very easy to view the list of participants as you just scrolled down. Now they are listed across row by row. Not very user friendly.

Hopefully these can be re-incorporated.

Thanks

Edit: I had thought a tournament was bugged by the new UI, But it was pointed out to it was functioning normally. Deleting my comment.

As with any change, it appears you have your critics. And I'm sure there will be further refinements. But from what I've seen do far, I think this is a great step forward. Keep up the good work -- it's appreciated!

Regarding the invite system as it was before, we noticed some misuse with collateral issues. This needed to be changed. We are looking into a solution that would allow tournament creators to have an improved tool addressing this issue.

I'll keep monitoring your feedback and will answer when possible.
Thanks for taking some of your time to answer our questions. I do understand the need to "modernize" the tournament page, however I can't see what kind of "misuses" lead you to take the decision to cut off the invite system.
I've been organizing tournaments on BGA for almost 6 years now. At first, I had to use Excel and to create all games one by one to host a tournament. And then the special tournament feature came, it was kind of a revolution. And since then, many major improvements came, all for the better and it was each time easier to be the administrator. And it ended with the possibility to host huge events, like the XXth Anniversary Ticket to Ride tournament, an opportunity I will never forget... So thanks for your works in the matter.
But I have to tell you that I'm quite disappointed after your next move. I think that it's the first time that an "improvement" means going backwards.

Could you explain to us what are the collateral issues going on with the invite system ? Maybe it could help us understand why it disappeared, and why we are losing such an essential tool for our tournaments.
The only misuse I can think of is unsollicited players complaining about getting invite notifications. If so, deleting the invite system feels like using a hammer to kill a fly. I receive tournaments invitation almost daily. I join when it seems interesting, I ignore when not. Not a big deal. Is there something else ? Another collateral damage ?
If not, maybe could you just had an option in our player profile to allow tournaments'invitation ? Or to allow it only for friends... or for players from our groups...
Or maybe could you restrict the possibility to invite only friends or groups...
I don't know, but it could be very nice to have it back, so that many tournaments'hosts could keep up hosting...

Perhaps as a way to remind you that the tournament isn't finished and published?

Would have been cooler if you had made some changes that people wanted

I agree with what others are saying. I don't like that we can't invite people to the tournaments anymore. I'm super glad I made all my Tournaments before this happened. I will probably never make tournaments again. I have been on this gaming sight for 13 years and i have never been so disappointed with what you have done with this.

Rwain hosts some of the most prestigious tournaments on BGA (as in actual official world championships). Even if you ignore the rest of us peons, Rwain's feedback should be noted.

Unfortunately, this update is going to shutdown our weekly Kalah tournaments. 75% of our participants come via invitation. Not having the ability to invite players means that we're probably not going to have tournaments at all.

We only use the invitation to invite people who had previously played in the last two or three tournaments.

If there's any way to get the old interface back, we would really appreciate it. This new interface isn't going to work at all in it's current state.
