First Swiss Team Event - Test
Monday December 14th we tried this new format, a Swiss System pairing format, everybody played 4 games.
The new concept is based on Team rivalry. Some players do not face each other, they belong to the same team.
The pairings where calculated manually with my excel sheet, we hope BGA will soon allow us to use the interface to manage this type of events.
This format can be adapted for any number of players (multiple of 5).
Initially it was planned a 2-member team event. The good news, we could gather 15 players.

I had to improvise a bit, because I did not simulate and prepare enough that format.
I apologize for all the unconveniences, waiting time and delays.
And my biggest mistake was playing while managing at the same time, won't happen again.

Scoring : 8 / 6 / 4 / 2 / 0 points , if tied then halved
I made the draw on first round alphabetically; it was a mistake, cause almost all our strongest players have nicknames starting with W
Table 3 last round, 2 guests (Mizit and ed) came in, were not assigned to a specific team, scores were neutralised and halved to both teams.
High level of play as usual, did not expect all these strong players.
Of course, it was far from perfect.
But a lot could be learned and improvements will be implemented next time.
What are the main upgrades to focus on:
- Captain team selection or draft system
- Handicap Formula
- First round table draw (random, ranking, Captain's choice)
- Substitutes entry
