Tournament - not enough participants

Post by kerkael »

Hi, I looked for "not enough" but didn't find any answer here, maybe some other form was used, sorry in advance.

What if I create a tournament for 16 players and only 9 persons registered ? How will this be handled ? Should I cancel ?

Thanks

It will start anyway, and the matching will be adapted automatically.

In the options when creating a tournament, we can set more than 2 players per game.
Does this mean that the 2-players only requirement in the FAQ is no longer true ?
How does it work in direct elimination or swiss system ?
(And it would be nice to update the faq for this and for the round robin mode too)

I always wondered about that 2+ player mode for tournaments too.

And +1 on updating the faq !!

Hi,
I'm trying to create a tournament and it tells me to change the name of the tournament as it shoul consist of 4 to 32 alphanumeric signs and space. No matter what name I choose (I tried among others "SP330", "dla klas 123", "młodsi", "Dzień Dziecka SP330 klas 123") it keeps repeating the same... How can I name my tournament so that it is organised?
Help :)

Why are scheduled round robin tournaments so broken?

I tried originally to have it start 1 each day, that it had to be after the previous round finishes - which makes sense for elimination and Swiss (although I think they should allow whenever, it becomes asap but only after this time).
So I did the next best thing of scheduling every 4th game to be three days afterwards (the time limit I put on it).
Which looked fine on my schedule..

The tournament just launched, every game just started at once except the ones I delayed the rounds of

Hi- please can I get some advice?
I started my first tournament recently.
I made certain I was available for all the matches.
However, my opponents are taking their turns very late at night, meaning that when I wake I find that I have already lost all of my play time, and go into negative time. Then the opponent skips me and I get a penalty and lose karma.
Shouldn’t there be a way to prevent this? I log on several times per day and am always careful to take my turns quickly, but if other players can manipulate the clock like this it doesn’t seem right.
Especially when I am working hard to keep a good reputation level.

This also happened in a non-tournament game that was set up for a game of several days. Despite taking the required turns, one player skipped the rest of us overnight and we ended up with penalties.

I'd like to create a tournament for members of our group.
Are all games still limited to 2-players per game only?
We prefer games with at least 4 players at once.

I did a search on this thread for the word "resign" and I am astonished to find zero results.

I just ran a Hex tournament. No player was allowed to resign in any game. We had to play the games out until a win condition was reached.

Is this the same for other 2-player tournaments such as Chess? Are players forced to play until checkmate or other end of game condition? No one may resign?

Could someone please explain this to me? This is not in the FAQ but it should be.
