I'm going with Roll, those stars tell me so.

I think it is Roll for the Galaxy with Ambition due to it being the 7th installment of the "for the Galaxy" brand. Ambition has stars on the background. Regular Roll for the Galaxy does not.

My initial thoughts where: "aren't there 7 expansions for Race for the galaxy?", but according to BBG there are only 6.
So my bed is on Roll for the galaxy

I like the balance they have of obscure games and well-known ones. It's nice to find games I wouldn't have learned about otherwise. And also, it's funny to post that comment in this thread if indeed the new game turns out to be Roll for the Galaxy. That was one of the biggest releases of the past few years! Ranked in the top 25 on BGG. Hard to complain about that one.
In the past couple of months, they've also added highly-regarded games like Keyflower and Dungeon Twister.
Believe it or not, I'm pretty up on games but never heard of Roll for the Galaxy, Keyflower, or Dungeon Twister until they appeared here.

If it wasn't for the fact that the game was a complete and utter failure, I would say Battleship Galaxies.

Dungeon Twister I believe; It's an older game that has a cult following.
Keyflower was a smaller game, but in my local scene it made pretty large waves, and is widely touted as a very good Auction-mechanic game.
Roll for the Galaxy was huge, though, everywhere. It was as big an impact as Caverna; basically taking the established formula of a game and tweaking some of the things that made it awkward to play while maintaining the feel and impact of the original.
I don't blame you, or whatever, but I'm curious as to what you're pretty up on. I know some people who are large into Wargames (as in, chits) that know lots about their section of the Tabletop hobby that I have no clue on, so that's my best guess as to where you're at. The other possibility strong in my mind is someone that doesn't frequent Kickstarter or BoardGameGeek, in which case I'm wondering where you're going to get info, so I can go there too!
As for the game, just had a look at the RftG box, and yeah that's the same font and starfield. The 7 is a turned and cut-off 'y'from the logo and as pointed out by others, the d is the 'a'.

D-7 probably means that it will be published online in 7 days after the initial message.
Similar to T-10 for rocket launches
