Its nice a speed/gear warning option was added. Best of both worlds!

So glad this got added! It has made the game much more enjoyable for me, not having to double and triple-check for this small mistake, slowing the game down. It was originally on for Arena mode, but then they shut it off based on a suggestion someone submitted (with one vote!). I created a suggestion to re-enable it:
https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=18054
Please upvote/comment if you agree! Some will argue that this is "babysitting" and should be disabled in arena mode, but I think it should be enabled for the same reason the option should exist in the first place. It is just making the UI clear and preventing a mistake that wouldn't happen in live play.
It is confusing to not have the option enabled when you're used to it, and from what I've seen everyone is playing with the option enabled in open play.

I agree with you.
Imagine a chess game interface that would warn a player who positions a piece (before confirming his move), that if he plays this move, he is mated at the next move.
Learning requires a penalty for the mistakes.
Imagine a game where your opponent has to tell you when you try to place your main piece in such a position that he can take it. That would be such a stupid game !
Oh wait...

Not really..
Actually, In real life tournaments if you do move your king into check, you get flagged IIRC. I'm not 100% sure why in chess interfaces online that is different, but I guess it is to focus on more important concepts like strategy and tactics.. And I appreciate it for that.

Timing I guess.
You could abuse this to get a few extra seconds of thinking.

Could the speed limit warning be enabled in ranked by default? Or made a choice?

PLEASE make it so the computer will plot a path around dotted speed limits if the way is clear. It's very easy to accidentally set your car on a route through a dotted line when there was a perfectly legal diagonal move and crash out, which in a game which lasts this long is very frustrating. Well done on the the game though!

I also noticed that the speed limit warning doesn't show up on the white dice.

The warning glow is a great addition but why even allow a player to exceed a speed limit?
In a real game, your opponents would quickly point out that you've broken the speed limit and not let you do it. Why does the game let you do it? There's reason ever in a real game that you would deliberately break a speed limit and lose control.

There is one good reason to break the speed limit. If you go flat out and lose control, you may intentionally break the speed limit to crash at a lower speed. For example if you throw a /!\ on a 5, you can steer into a 1 speed corner in the second gear, so you only turn around instead of exploding in a fireball.
But for the initial setup I agree. I play arena where the speed limit warnings are turned off and think it is so silly when an opponent, who is otherwise playing very well, crashes due to a speed limit mistake. Even if that gets me a cheap win. If I see it coming I usually warn them. Although they never listen
In a real life game who would even do that? Wait for the opponent to commit to the line and then say "ha! ha! you crashed!" ???
