This !
I follow this simple rule, and have never been moderated even once.
It's not that hard to create a friendly environment, where moderation isn't even necessary. But obviously you have to try.
You haven't been moderated yet, because you haven't been reported by the right person, yet.
If that is truly what you believe, I won't even try to convince you otherwise.
Look, T72, a perfect example...
In this forum post
https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... =3&t=22258, YOU call a player/something the player said
CLOSE MINDED.
Was that kind, necessary or helpful - things you say you follow? Nope.
If someone reported a player who used that remark towards another player, the player saying "close minded" could be, depending on case, moderated.
What if that remark of yours... caused a BGA granny, a heart attack?

Close minded can be taken as an insult by some, that is true.
But moderators do try to look at the context also.
T21 also explained WHY he used those words, he provided context which counts as a form of feedback or at the very least constructive criticism.

Great, one less player that complains about moderation just done right. Before speaking in chat, always ask yourself is it true/helpful/inspiring/necessary/kind and only post when all are checked.
For instance my post is probably not checking the fifth item so I would understand if I were reported for that, but I hope it made my example clear enough so that's worth it.
While a general exclamation of a word like "kut"(Dutch) or "fuck"(screw with censoring a word, in this context I should be allowed to use it) should not be punished severely, I agree with what Tisaac says. It is not always helpful to use them, and some people do take offense to it.
General rule of thumb, imagine you are playong a game with your grandmother, would you use the same language?
(Ofcourse I am fully aware certain grandmothers do have a more colorful vocabulary, but you catch my drift).
Don't speak to other players the way you wouldn't speak to your (grand)parents, simple as that.

The problem is not that people reports. What i mean is that moderators for the most little words gives a chatban. But when people using words without one letter get nothing. And when people talks in a own language then the moderators using Google translate.

Sorry, I think you are a bit... subjective.
I think that if my name would be on that reply of T27's, you would consider it an insult and not constructive criticism, and i would also get moderated for it.
That's how things go, from my point of view.
And also... Moderators take context into account, when they moderate reported people? :s
Goodness gracious... how can you say that so surely?
Have you ever been reported or moderated, or try to appeal or anything, in order to say that?
I strongly disagree, sorry.

One last reply on my part on this subject, then it's closed for me.
I would be very, very suprised if someone would moderate for only using the words close minded, given the context, as also explained by voriki, is a clear indication that no harm is intended. I am a moderator on a gaming forum myself. I am 200% sure that me nor another mod on our forum would ever moderate for that.
I know you won't be convinced now. But I do know that I am convinced moderators here will react properly if I keep my posts and ingame chat the way I have done up until now. I might be proven wrong at some point, but I doubt it.
Obviously I am taking a risk by stating this. It only takes one or a few unhappy people to start watching everything I type now, start reporting for next to nothing, until a mod gives in and moderates me.

Closed may it be!
Considering people are moderated for far less than what you said (also with an appropriate context and not so offensive remarks), I rest my case.
You said you follow the rule THINK (true, helpful, inspiring, necessary, kind), and that is why you are never moderated.

)))
What is so kind, necessary or inspiring about saying someone's comment is "close minded"?
In the same context, you could have phrased it differently, without the "close minded" part (I mean express your opinion, to which I partially agree anyway, but without directly criticising the player your opinion was contradictory to).
That player also explained why he gave the comment you considered "close minded".

While I disagree in general with the post and its attitude, I do find it amusing how many words are censored in English, but I can say anything nasty in Spanish.

You say nasty words, but if someone reports you and translation clearly shows those weren't nice words, you would still be moderated.

Perhaps (s)he forgot to explain the context in which the word was used, like in T27's "close minded" case

)))
