For me, as a Premium player, the favoritism of Euro games over Ameritrash is my grievance. I'm sure alot of players would want Ameritrash games and they would attract more players to their site as well.

Let's just say that the reason I'm unable to tell you in full is one of the reasons why.

Good post. Agreed. BGA could do much better. Arena killed real time play, on one of my fav games.
There is no real love for the game among the Devs...most games anyway.

My understanding is that most games are developed by people who are fans of that particular game. The games that are just given to someone as a project are the minority.Greesy monkey wrote: ↑09 May 2023, 19:47 There is no real love for the game among the Devs...most games anyway.
But your complaint about Arena may be legitimate. And I can see someone quitting premium over the whole issue of removing no time limit games in certain formats. Or over how moderation is handled. Or over the faux wood background on the forum. I just object to someone blaming BGA for something they don't control. "I'm quitting Premium because of the volcano eruption in Hawaii. They are not dedicated enough to volcano prevention!"

Re: Why I'll never pay for premium again
when you want to search for new players it is clearly written that if you are premium it only takes 11 or 12 seconds so when you don't pay it normally takes 2 to 3 minutes. So for me it is clearly false advertising.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑05 May 2023, 02:13Please link to a page, post, or announcement where this was promised. They have no control over how many people are playing some niche game.Perduicitte wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 15:19Paying premium does not give me greater chances of playing what i want, when i want to.

I don't have access to the figures, but this statement might be true if you consider averages --- the popular games get filled within seconds whereas niche games take ages, but the vast majority of the games played on this (or any other site) are the popular ones. The main advantage of premium is that you don't have to wait until somebody creates the game for you (which is filled in seconds).when you want to search for new players it is clearly written that if you are premium it only takes 11 or 12 seconds so when you don't pay it normally takes 2 to 3 minutes. So for me it is clearly false advertising.

Could you post a screenshot of that? It's hard to understand what you are referring to.

Well, if you want to play a premium game and you're not premium, you can still queue for a game, I guess, in Arena or automatic mode. But you still need a premium player to join. If you are premium, you don't need any other premium player, so it's natural that the waiting time will be shorter. The estimated waiting times you see in the tables are, in my experience, most of the time completely wrong.

Re: Why I'll never pay for premium again
What I understand so far:
I, for myself, will not pay for premium again, because it does not address my needs for Real-Time play. Variety is fun, but variety without play is worthless.
Who premium may be for: "I started using BGA at the beginning of the pandemic, and my usage then (and now) is with a certain circle of friends only, using private tables only. I have a premium account so we as a group can play any of the games available. I do not use BGA to just pop on and find if a particular game is being played. Perhaps I'm not the general player that BGA (or you) is hoping for - one who starts tables and hangs out in case someone else wants to play. I am willing to pay a premium to play the high-interest games, and I hope my subscription funds more talented programmers to port many more games to this site." (posted elsewhere, by someone else, but it is very well written and belongs here)
Cheers,
me
