I am so tired of people complaining about how I play, demanding to know why I targeted them, etc, that it just * the joy out of playing Catan.

People who are saying it's rude to not respond to chat messages must have never encountered entitled players who think every game move others make that affect them is actually about being unfair to them instead of other players trying to win. They have nothing nice to say in the chat but constantly call out other players.

And the wild accusations! Kingmaking, collusion if two players share a national flag, and anything else they can possibly make up.

The purest form of intimidation to affect the outcome of a game - being nasty to your opponents in the chat. Absolutely sick of it.

I'm at the point where I would gladly pay a fee > $3 to BGA monthly to be able to disable the game chat in tables that I create. Or in return for a sizeable one-time donation. Name the price, and it's done.

*Moderator edit: please refrain from swearing on BGA, this is a family-friendly platform.

Depending on exactly what is being said to you, you can report people for inappropriate behaviour in the chat - see the moderation policy: https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Moder ... discussion

Also, mods, the word "suck" in and of itself is not a swear word, it's an acceptable verb in appropriate context. A vaccuum cleaner sucks up dirt. A leech sucks your blood. A person can suck on a lollipop. The only context in which you can call it a swear word is when it's used to indicate a situation/person/object is bad (eg. "this game _____", "he _____", "people who boot people over time _____", etc.). To be honest, I wouldn't call it a swear word at all, I'd call it mild slang, but I get how it can be used in a derogatory way against someone, so I understand it not being allowed in that context. "Sucking the joy" out of something does mean that something isn't fun anymore, but the word suck in that context doesn't make it a swear word either.

Thank you, I was so confused about what word possibly could have been censored.

Although be careful: you mentioned "A person" which might be moderated for mentioning a different place to play board games (in person).

I only know because it's been censored from my posts more than once. And not because I was using it against a person, again it was the situation (I think typically, when discussing what happens when people boot people from tournaments). Which frankly, is a situation that warrants that word (and BGA have several options to make it less of an annoying, unfair situation, so they have the power to stop it ____ing, as it were).
