What are your thoughts on ZERTZ and LYNGK?
I didn't play them nearly as much as the others to really be able to fully judge them, but both have - at least to some degree - this thing that you do something on the board (placing marbles in ZERTZ, stacking pieces in LYNGK without having claimed the top color) which not only you but also your opponent can use. This is not as straight and direct as playing exclusively with your own pieces.

First game. I’m confused, so is my opponent. Rules description is confusing. Not even sure what the objective is.

The objective is stated under GAME END:
The winner is the player who controls the most pieces in stacks with a piece of his color on top. All pieces in the stack are counted independent of their color.
The amount of pieces under a players control is always reflected with the players score.
When you play the game in real life, you normally do this (taken from the rules PDF):
Each player puts all of the stacks he controls on top of each other. The player with the highest stack wins the game.
In the end game screen, you have the option to also build those 2 stacks on BGA - just for visualizing the victory.
What else in the rules is confusing? Just tell me and I try to rephrase it to make it clearer.
Or maybe you just check the linked rules PDF for more detailed rules and examples.

out of curiosity, is there some preset setups for competitive matches? Or do all serious players do a placement phase?

I would say serious players do a placement phase. It's an essential part of the game.
There are other games in the GIPF series that have a random or preset setup in the rules, DVONN does not. The "Brettspielwelt" also had the random setup as the default option, and I liked it. So I did the same for BGA. Plus it gives new players a better entry to the game. In fact I enjoy the random setup very much, too, plus it's not totally random. Only the 3 red DVONN pieces are placed randomly, the rest of the pieces are placed by some non deterministic rules to keep it more or less balanced.

Does this mean other GIPF games are coming?
With boiteajeux.net shutting down, we are DESPERATELY in need to a place to play YINSH (and other GIPF games).

It is indeed planned to bring the whole series.

AWESOME. I am happy to test YINSH when it's in Alpha.
