Is there a tutorial for Cities & Knights yet? This is another point of confusion - if someone wants to play the Cities and Knights expansion, the tutorial option suggests that Settlers of Catan is the same game, when they are quite different!

Yes, having an Arena especially on Knight & Cities would be great.

Rules together with an almanac showing all the card abilities are easy to find: https://www.catan.com/sites/default/fil ... 200708.pdf

I totally agree with comments, it would be great to have this as a separate Arena game. I can't even figure how to have a game in basic mode but will try friending if that helps

Arena with K&C is needed!
I'm not playing the basic one anymore because I found the extension way better and I miss you competitive.

You have a premium membership so you can start your own game from https://boardgamearena.com/lobby (ensure that the option labelled "Expansion" is set to "Base game" if that's what you want). More detailed instructions here:

There is zero chance of getting an Arena season with C&K with the guru/arena set up as I understand it.

Gurus are auto selected as players that play the most games.
Base Catan plays much faster than C&K catan.
Gurus will therefore be generally people that play Base Catan rather than C&K Catan.
When options for the next season come up, base catan players will chose base catan.
C&K catan will never be the settings for an arena seasons.

We can see existing evidence for this in the 3 vs 4 player options for Arena prior to the introduction of C&K.

Sometimes the gurus surprise you. The game Sushi Go was stuck in a terribly unsuitable 2-player format for years because that allows for finishing more games - but now it's suddenly 4 players. Much more fun!

+1 for a separate game and arena mode with cities and knights.

+1 (really +100)

I've been playing Catan for a _long_ time (almost 30 years now), and I prefer Cities & Knights (C&K) -- it's really a separate game, even though it shares some mechanics with base Catan. Saying they're the same game would be like saying that 7-card Draw and Texas-Hold 'em are the same game because they both use poker hands that can be made from 7 cards. In tournament play in other arenas (eg: World Boardgame Championships, Catan Communities) they are treated as separate games.

Yes, yes, and yes again. Even if it's not made into an actual separate game - though it really should be, like really really should be - the fact that this expansion is enabled should be MUCH more obvious and there SHOULD be a separate arena for it. Which, really, means it should have it's own game.

Catan tournaments worldwide recognize this fact.
