I've been excited to see such a popular reception! I'll try to answer some questions here.

Yes. Thanks for asking!
LokiGiraffe wrote: 30 May 2024, 07:49I've been enjoying playing this on here, the one additive I'd like is a card to say what your abilities are for your character
For reference material, the best thing to do is add it to the How to Play section that appears at the bottom of every table. As a bonus, that's a user-editable wiki, so you can add anything into there that would be helpful to refer to during the game. I'd invite you to contribute and the whole community will benefit!

ELO is not disabled. You're probably playing it in training mode, which avoids ELO penalties/benefits while learning a game. That's consistent with how every game works on BGA.
tarongot wrote: 30 May 2024, 22:55Cooperative games deserves ELO and rating too. I don't get why is it so hard to make simple system win ELO +, loss ELO- for all
I don't get why some people are so quick to throw out accusations without a sincere attempt to understand first. Not only do we have ELO support, but it also changes based on the difficulty you chose.
Comments like this are discouraging for designers. They make us wonder whether it was actually worth the time to add the system in when players complain that it's not even there (with a bonus implication that we were too lazy to add it).
tarongot wrote: 01 June 2024, 10:46Mini rogue already has that +10 for win in normal level +40 for win hardest level (I guess middle levels will have +20/+30 but trying to check that) and -1 for lose. Simple and working.
Yes! This guy gets it. ELO is already in place and has been working since day one.

When we play two players, only wins, the players who won the boss of final dungeon, but in our board game translation says that both players win the rewards
Thanks. This was a bug that was not reported until some time after your post, so we were only recently made aware of it. It's fixed now and working great.

Mini Rogue is basically a solo game and afaik most of games played are solo games.
However, BGA prevents solo games in normal mode unless the game is solo only.
Imo this is the main reason that users think rating doesn't work properly in this game.
Sadly, as this is a limitation from the BGA framework (not the game), the developers can't solve it :(

Thank you very much, ufm, for explaining the problem!
May I suggest a workaround?

Games like 7 Wonders and Sobek have separate editions for 2 players. Of course, 7 Wonders Duel is a separate game with different design and mechanisms. I've played regular Sobek with 2p but not actually the 2p version.

This inspires me to ask whether you could make a fork of Mini Rogue and publish a new, separate, Mini Rogue Solo edition?

You could then remove the solo option for the current Mini Rogue edition and make that a 2p only "Team" version.

This would allow ELO for solo games, and that ELO also wouldn't "drown" ELO for team games, since team games are both more difficult, slower and more coordination (because you need to find a partner) so ELO for 2p games is "more worth" in a sense.

I see several possible reasons for why this might not be a good idea, or even allowed ny BGA. But I'd like to at least share this suggestion.

@ Kayvon; could I kindly ask for your response? Thank you very much in advance!

Vault (a solo game) is doing that, because the multiplayer version of Vault is a competitive game.
However, this is not the case in Mini Rogue.
Imo allowing non-training solo games in Mini Rogue by modifying the BGA framework would be the best, but it's out of scope for game devs.

....
You know that's same guy?
And in first comment I said general about cooperative games. And Mini Rogue is great example that it can be done, only example I know. Good job.

So why other games don't have it? Why its not standard? And in Mini Rogue that ELO and rating system is limited compared to competitive games. It is a step in right direction, big step, so once again great job but still not whole journey.

Oops... I did not notice that both quotes were you. Stupid mistake on my part.

I suspect any systematic change will need to be in the framework itself as Ufm said.

That is of course correct. My question is if you think a fork for separate Solo and 2p would be a possible workaround for Mini Rogue. As I mentioned, that also avoids the possibility for inflating ELO for Co-op by playing lots of Solo. Seems better to keep them separate for ELO purposes.
  • If you are against it, no point in adding a "bug report" (feature request).
  • If you are willing to consider it, I'll happily add it :-)

I very much doubt BGA would approve it, even if Mogri and I were up for maintaining two copies of the game, which is more trouble than this merits.
