So you have a habit of just obliterating new players and then being frustrated because they don't want that recorded on their profile?

Is the recognition that you destroyed somebody who clearly didn't understand the game really that important to your ego? You spend half your post talking about how terrible of a player they were, are you taking some pride in the victory that needs to be memorialized?

I am pretty sure you took my statements out of context and badly misrepresented the main point I was making.

1) A "Habit"? I create open tables, open to whoever wants to join. I accept the game regardless of whether the player is rated 600 or 100.
2) My main point, which you somehow missed, is: I do not understand why anyone would play out the entire game, 500-600 moves, only to concede on the final move. That seems childish and petty to me, akin to flipping over the physical table in a real-life game after losing. If you disagree, fine; you're entitled to your opinion. But please do not badly mischaracterize what I was actually saying.
3) I am pretty sure I didn't call anyone a "terrible player"? I have gotten crushed in this game too. I do not childishly "concede" on literally the final turn. My ego can handle seeing the final score roll and show that I lost by a lot. And, maybe my opponent wants to see it. If my ego were as fragile as you seem to think, why would I always let the final score roll even when I am losing by a good margin? What nonsense.
4) You made a lot of inappropriate and incorrect assumptions about me. There is still time to delete your foolish post, since it added precisely zero the conversation.

EDIT - Wow, you REALLY took those quoted portions completely out of context. The sentence preceding the partial quoting was, "It's weird how similar the two games were, almost making me wonder whether it as the same person" (or something to that effect.) Nor did I call anyone a "terrible player", I said, "I get it, sometimes a game goes poorly"

You conveniently left all that out since it did not fit your blatantly and unnecessarily insulting post.
Did you know that you can be docked 50 Karma and chat-banned for 24 hours for such things? It happened to me for a less insulting post than what you just wrote.

I kindly ask you not to take my quotes out of context, and stick to the topic at hand, which is, "why play out the entire game, likely with the intent to concede, only to do it literally on the game's final move?"

It's a legitimate question, and one that can be addressed without needless insults to the person asking the question.

Okay? So, if avoiding wasted time is the goal here, why then are people playing out the final generation in a game that is obviously clearly decided, sitting there eagerly waiting to press the "concede" button literally right before the game is going to actually end? Both players have had a lot of time wasted at that point.

Clearly, "saving time" is not their priority. (If they realize at that moment that the game is lost, they surely would have realized it a lot earlier and could have saved BOTH players a lot of time.)

So, can we stop with the "why should they have to waste time blah blah blah" nonsense?
Nobody HAS to do ANYTHING. It all comes down to choices. Which choices are most sportsmanlike and least petty?

Ego?? Really? I am "okay" at Race for the galaxy. "Decent". Whatever. I'll probably always be sub-300. I struggle against high-rated players. The same (high-rated) player has joined my open invite 4 times now. He has crushed me all 4 times. Each time, I play the game out, say "greetings, gl" or something to that effect, and play the game out, even though after turn 2 the outcome is obvious. I am going to lose.

And each time, I finish the game, congratulate him on a game well played, and say, "Maybe I'll get you next time." Even though I know I probably will not. There is a reason he is rated 200 points higher than I am.

If my ego were so fragile and petty as some have made it out to seem, I would red-thumb the player so I don't keep getting my butt kicked by him.

ODDLY ENOUGH, I do not do that. Maybe this notion of my opinions being entirely ego-driven is actually not correct???
Maybe sometimes people just have an opinion on the most/least sportsmanlike way to handle things, and it might differ from other people's opinions.

In my "real-life" experience, people who rage-quit are generally bad sports. So, perhaps my own experience comes into play here. My philosophy is, win with dignity, lose with dignity, be gracious and polite. I always greet my opponent and congratulate said opponent on a win. If I feel as though I won by getting lucky, I'll say so.

That's more than a lot of my opponents can be bothered to do, many of whom do not even greet or respond to my greeting.

It would be nice if people could respond here without attacking my ego or character or otherwise insulting me. Ad hominem "arguments" don't carry much weight.
