SO, they don't mean "advertise" literally. They mean, don't mention other gaming websites.

It's definitely rational to interpret "advertise" as something different than "mention". I'm guessing there won't be any moderators who feel comfortable weighing in on it though. I still hope they might.

Yes, in principle, I agree with you. Definitionally, there is a distinct difference between "advertise" and "mention".

But why press the issue? Why risk it? Why risk antagonizing them? What is the benefit versus the potential cost?

They don't want other gaming websites mentioned, and, yes, they didn't phrase as clearly as they could have; but, we have multiple players clarifying the policy based on their own experience.

If that's the precedent, I can abide by it. And hopefully they'll see fit to clarify it more officially. Thanks.

I still hope for them to take interest in my question about warnings, and in my thoughts on being free to appeal without fear of retaliatory measures. I have no ill will or hard feelings against anyone.

As others have said, this is not the place to talk about moderation. No place is. It's simply not allowed to talk to each other about this topic.

There is no way to know if anyone has ever won an appeal. There is no way to know if your appeal was even read.

I think a better moderation policy would be to open a "Moderation Appeal" section on the forums, where each person could start a thread and state their case. Allow voting for 3 weeks. And once that period is done, the thread is deleted.

Not allowing bga members to talk to each other, or to anyone if they have been genuinely wronged, can't be the best policy.

I am pretty sure appeals dont get read.
