If a favourite game falls off a wooden bookshelf, does the answer to a badly worded survey question actually make a meaningful sound?
Or something like that anyway ..

Well of course the answer is going to be "biased", I am asking for your favorite board game ever. But for all the hundreds of games that are here on BGA, it's not a given that every answer I get here is in fact a BGA game. Some that I've gotten in chats during games here are in fact not BGA games. How many, that's what I'll see after I get my 100 answers. (I have 70 as of this exact moment.)
Absolutely chess counts. I've had a couple people say chess during this. There's no age limit to what qualifies. Heck, my favorites go back decades (Heroquest and Mille Bornes).Strode wrote: ↑14 March 2026, 16:38Chess, and it is here.Sonic Whammy wrote: ↑14 March 2026, 03:11If you had to pick one, what would you say is your all time favorite board game, regardless of whether it's on BGA or not?
If modern games only, Santiago (maybe), and it is not here.
My point is that people whose favorite game is not here may be more likely to answer the poll, which might create an impression that most people are unhappy with BGA not having their favorite game, which may or may not be correct.Sonic Whammy wrote: ↑07 April 2026, 02:32 Well of course the answer is going to be "biased", I am asking for your favorite board game ever. I get what you're saying. The key though is that I have to survey 100 BGA players for this survey. While most of the ones I've gotten so far have come from direct chats during games, a few people that have answered this have in fact given non BGA games. It's not at all meant to be a gotcha to the BGA siterunners or anything. No ulterior motives. Just, what's your all time favorite board game. No more no less.tbhp wrote: ↑07 April 2026, 09:35 My point is that people whose favorite game is not here may be more likely to answer the poll, which might create an impression that most people are unhappy with BGA not having their favorite game, which may or may not be correct.
If you want to get an accurate answer to that question, you need to poll a random sample of people.

Which one, for the record?
