Funny thing, 99%of the game I play are turn based.
I connect, play my moves, disconnect, and come back later.

Once in a blue moon, I play m turn, and before I can click on 'Next Game', my opponent is already playing.
Is he a bot ?
Maybe but that is not my first thought : My first though is: he clicked on his own 'Next Game' after I finished my turn and play because the game is simple enough.

You are in a slightly more complex game, but in a real time game, your opponent can plan his turn while you are playing. You have 2 actions at most to do each turn ... Each of them can take very low time ... So ...

I'm glad you confirmed 'bot' is just a possibility, because I'll be honest, in your very first post, it wasn't very clear you considered there was other possibilities.

I wouldn't have thought anything of it, except when I would pass there would be a slew of moves at times (i think the most I saw was 10-12 moves) that even with planning were executed at about as fast as you could possibly do.

i would welcome bots on BGA to teach beginners new games. But only if highlighted in nickname that it is not human like robot12345 or like Elon Musk's childrens:Æ A-12... .

OK
10-12 moves, that is 5 or 6 turns.
If your opponent manage to have 5 more turns than you during some generations, would it be far fetched to think he is a lot better than your managing his ressources ? And so knowing the game better ? And so playing faster ? Without being a bot ?
