It is intentional and has always been like this in the past. It has only been different in the last days because of a bug that has been corrected now.

It is not points "you allowed your opponent" but these are the summed up points that your opponents made against all their opponents. The logic is that you had a stronger pool of opponents if the opponents you matched made more points in the tournament. If two players are tied then the one who happened to have the stronger opponent pool should win the tie.

Ok I think I found the problem with this, it's because my images were bigger than 500x500, but it would help if it explained this rather than having to work it out myself.

Even more weird is this, it's giving me the following error "Stage 1 / Multiplayer Elimination : option "Number of players per group to qualify" cannot be more than nb. players per match (5) for this:

https://ibb.co/chYgt4V9

Why? My settings would mean 2 groups of 54, 9 tables of 6 in each, 2 to qualify each around gives 2 rounds to leaves 6 players to qualify from each group, leaving 12 players with top 3 to qualify going to a 6 player final. Why is there an error here? It doesn't make any sense. If I remove the min player count of 5, so it's all 6 player it does work, but that makes the tournament completely unnecessarily vulnerable to someone pulling out.

Also why is the max number of players for tournaments 512, I would like to setup a bigger tournament (625 players), but it will not let me.

After BGA updated the Tournament, my screen keeps blinking whenever I scroll down to the Tournament part. Anyone have the same problem?

I actually found the new interface better in terms of setting up tournaments, the options were cleaner, which was particularly an issue at a game like Heat that had lot of confusing options.

The no invites thing really needs a solution.

Also some of the features need cleaning up. Take the estimated ending feature, this would be a good feature telling people how long a tournament will roughly take, however it's completely inaccurate. See this tournament: https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=533524. It's estimating the tournament to take 1 year, it couldn't possibly take 1 year, given it's a 4 round tournament with 30 day max round length, it's max 4 months, in reality it will be less than 2 months.

]Hmm. Looking at a tourney to start in 7 hrs from now. For game Miams.. was about to join. Till I see the tourney will not start until minimum 256 players have registered. I see new tourney maker has made error and has minimum needed to start same as his 256 players max. So that tourney is toast. So I click on tourney chat to inform creator of thier mistake. No go. Big banner saying I cant chat unless I am part of a group. ??? What the heck is that all about. So now we cant chat. Or invite. Or really even feel like playing tourneys as messed up as it is. Wake me up when this nightmare is over. Please more communication.

Another thing I've noticed is using the copy tournament link to clipboard function to send someone via DM, it no longer sends it as a link, just a block of text, this is a horrendous change, that is going to make registering any sort of private tournament far more tricky, because then everyone has to copy and paste your link to enter, rather than simply clicking a link, which will inevitably lead to players not bothering, or thinking the link you've sent them doesn't work. I can't emphasise enough how bad this change is, I send 1000s of invites a year this way, many players click these links off mobile, sending them a wall of text which they need to copy and paste into a new browser is going to make it brutal to register tournaments this way.

You can't invite people and then cannot send out links, am I understanding that correctly? Seems hard to get people into tournaments.

As Oz said, receiving an invitation in this manner on my mobile device was rather confusing and inefficient. If the tournament creator needs to follow up with every invitation to tell them they need to copy and paste the lengthy text, the invitation tool is effectively rendered useless.

I made bug reports for the above-mentioned problems. I hope they can be fixed easily. Anyway, hopefully there can be a better solution for the invite system.
Default minimum number of players is bad. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=207947
Invite links not working. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=207945
(In the meantime, you can create a clickable invite link by putting "https://" in front of what you copy. And of course for public tournaments, you don't need an invite link, you can just copy the tournament URL.)
