In other words, the people who are using this process for fraud (a claim which remains dubious) can STILL do so, while everyone who simply wants to use this mode for friendly competition remains punished.

Happy anniversary to this tire fire, can we please put this feature back since we’re now talking about fixing ELO abuse properly (by adjusting the ELO system, not punishing people who just want ranked play without time pressure)?

I am finding the similarities interesting with the current ELO debate (and actually, the debate about the new lobby system generally). Basically, most of the changes are hurting a lot of people who don't abuse the system, while at the same time, doing very little to curb the behaviour they're trying to curb and making the experience on BGA less fun for the masses. I admit, I have probably given up on this cause, though that's not to say I wouldn't still like to see the feature come back. And while I agree with some of the points made against the ELO debate, I don't really have the motivation to keep pushing because of how the opinion of people who were being affected was treated over here (ie. ignored). I get that you can't typically run a site as a democracy and keep everyone happy, but it does feel a bit like the attitude is, we talked about the problem, we decided on a solution, we implemented it without seeking further feedback, and we will be sticking to it in spite of any sensible dissent. I mean, maybe behind the scenes they're discussing things, but some acknowledgement would at least make people feel heard (if that is the case, which I doubt).
Look, at the end of the day, I still find enjoyment in playing games here, and I will be sticking around as long as it's fun. I expect most people will do the same. But the thing is that if a decent proportion of the user base decide to look elsewhere for their downtime because BGA isn't fun for them, then ultimately it will also become less fun for those who remain as well.
