hey my msot recent karma lossea re because i wait in arena for a hour or horu and a half and when i finnaly find a game i basically already forgot i am looking a game so i run out of time and get penalty. This is the definition of unfair.

All defending karma and penalties are peopel who like to harass others for no reason.

Unfair is more properly defined as different rules being applied to the same situation. The situation we have is that you decided to play a game, told other people that you would play (by searching for a table), then did not follow through on your commitment to that. You caused other people to wait, as they had no idea that you couldn't pay attention to your computer and follow your commitment. The penalty for causing other people to wait is 10 karma for your first offense, and 20 if it happens again within a short time period. This rule is applied to everybody and is therefore fair.

I attacked your definition of unfair.
I attacked your behavior of not following through on the commitment to play a game.
I did read your post.
Please point out where I attacked you personally.

Also, I have a dare for you. Next time you search for an arena game, if you don't feel like waiting, press the cancel button to let the system know you no longer want it to search for opponents for you.

Also, please keep this civil so the moderators do not lock the thread, as they have done with flaming in the past.

I've never played real-time Arena, and nor do I like the idea of reducing any Karma penalties. But it's quite clear from the number of responses that there is a problem here. Waiting an hour for a table to start sounds very bad, together with the fact that to do well in Arena it's quite important to play a lot of games in a season to progress to the higher ranks.
The BGA team don't ever play Arena, so they would have no idea of this user experience.

Does anyone have any suggestions for solutions?
Does the alarm clock when a real-time Arena game start sound like a good idea?

We should motivate people to learn more different games. So you can queue for different games at the same time und by that reduce waiting time.

Problem: you most likely end up with the most popular game every time and never the niche game that you're most hoping for.
But maybe the whole idea of real-time-arena only works for popular games.
