Idiotic word filter

I'm also on several gaming sites - but not a single other treats their users like underage children !!! Not even on other AMERICAN sites! This is only the case here at BGA!!! Only here at BGA is one so incredibly patronized and restricted in the choice of words.!!!

I believe that was their point. That even American sites allow those sorts of language, even though the US are known as being one of the more puritanical western countries. So they may be surprised that a country like France, known as more "liberated", is actually more strict on this issue.

I think it is maybe a false idea that the French are more liberated. We can be in certain ways, but we can also be fairly strict in our jurisdiction of certain things. There's often jokes about how the French administration system is so convoluted that it basically takes away our freedom.

Well, when you are talking in a public space, you have to keep in mind that a child could be reading your posts.

So German-speaking people can’t use certain words that look like English swears because a child (English-speaking, of course) might see a long German sentence and get offended by a word in the middle that looks like something naughty in English?

Does BGA do the reverse? Are there English words that happen to look like a curse in another language that we are therefore prevented from using because a child in that language might read it? I’m not aware of any such thing.

Should I avoid talking about mist because a German child might read this? Or my pet because a kid in Barcelona could be reading?
