Board Game Arena

In my opinion, 6Nimmt is at its most competitive when played with the Tactical/Professional setup for 5 players. This format minimizes luck and emphasizes strategy, making it the most skill-based way to play.

Anything else can feel a bit chaotic, especially when player’s hands isn’t in control. Throw in some bad luck, and it can become more about the party atmosphere or just pure chance.

There's nothing wrong with that, of course! If you're looking for a casual game, setting up a table with your preferred configuration can be a lot of fun.

However, since Arena is labeled as 'Competitive Mode' by BGA, the logic suggests favoring a setup that minimizes luck and rewards strategic thinking.

That being said, if it’s set on keeping the current non-tactical format, perhaps switching back to the standard mode with more players, including newcomers, might be a better option.

Tbf if you're playing casually, what's the point of going into the arena?

Fingers crossed that the next season is not Professional mode again.

Looks like 6 nimmt is gone forever. It will be always professional which in the end is more random than classic one. The rule can be changed only by active Arena players who will be chosen to vote. However if arena is in "professional mode" so the active players can be only from this mode. It means they will never vote for a change.

So in short, 6 nimmt original will never in Arena. It is quite pity. I know many players who are my friends who stopped playing 6 nimmt because of Arena ruined rules....

First, you don't need to play Arena to play the game.
Second, you don't need to play Arena to become a guru, and vote for the Arena format. All games count, not just Arena.

First, I like to play Arena as I like the added competitive element. I don't enjoy Professional mode though.
Second, due to the above, I don't play enough to become a Guru.

Tbf it's less democracy and more meritocracy isn't it?

Why join the competitive arena, then complain it's not the casual version? Why not just queue for casual? What made you all want to choose the arena despite knowing you want the casual instead?

Well, to be fair, arena isn't set to competitive settings either. Most of the best players don't play arena because without ''tactics'' turned on, the game is very random.

Yet, the gurus are generally only arena players. Arena tables fill and start faster. On non-arena tables, stronger players have restrictions like "strong and above" or "good and above" which slows the table filling. So they will play fewer games.

In the general community, tables have different player counts, different rule sets, and we are divided many ways. In arena, everyone is lumped together, so arena tables start faster. You can play twice as many (or more) games playing arena than looking for a certain setting at normal tables.

So the players who really like the arena settings will play the most games, and as guru they will choose the same settings for next season.
