Well, it depends on the range of ELO you are looking at.
Despite a way larger base, I imagine, on BGA, the match-ups between top players are very rare (more than that) and the Arena format does not really help in that regard.
I believe that the level gap between a 700+ player here and a 400 is quite ginormous in a 2-player USA format. The top 15 players right now are all coming the old TTR app. There are as many players from the app who are quite underrated right now that should be closer to the top with a bit of motivation and better match ups (playing Arena you almost need to win 20/30 games in a row to compensate for a loss ELO-wise, which is quite unfun imo).

63/37 is a pretty good thing to keep in mind. The better the players in a match-up the tighter that gap will be.

For strategies, the best way is to watch the best players often. And repeat plays against top players. The 1-game format for a match does not help either to learn strategies : repeated plays against a player in a best-of-format help adjusting strategies and help to learn how to beat an opponent. At the top level, playing a 1-game match is like rolling the die.

All good points. I feel like most players have strengths / weaknesses but I can only see a limited selection during any match.

How do I report a player who is in multiple tournaments? Or do I need to?

It looks like they will be kicked at the end of the round. Not sure how they get the 8th player if they managed to make it to the top 8. Last player they beat in the round of 16?

Hi, there's no need to report. Players could join as many tournaments as they wanted. But, only players who registered once would be eligible for the semifinals. Some casual players chose to play in lots of tournaments, knowing they had almost no hope to reach the quarterfinals. Others did it because they did not take the time to read the rules. Whatever the reason, they are allowed to play in several tournaments.
The main point is :
If one of these players reaches the top 8, he will not be qualified as he did not respect the "Only One" rule. As stated before, he will be replaced by the player he defeated last (in quarter final), if this player is eligible. Otherwise, no one will be qualified.

Thanks for clarifying that. I now see that that was spelled out in the tournament rules. I just thought it would be unfair to be eliminated by someone who wouldn't be allowed to continue to the next phase anyway.

I don’t think there is unfairness here. If you want to be one of the semi-finalist, you have to win 6 games, whoever are your opponents.
Some of you will have a happy draw, some of you won’t... that's how a single elimination tournament works :D

About multiple registrations :

Some players have contacted me to explain that they did not pay attention to the fact that only one registration was allowed. They joined several tournaments without paying attention to the rules.
Days of Wonder is offering them a chance to stay eligible to the semifinals. Players who joined several tournaments but do want to stay eligible must immediately quit all tournaments but one, before completing any match.

Well that's not amazing since they all could look at their tickets and decide which game they should keep first... Now that would be unfair ;)
