I don't know if they've ever done a poll on player count, but everyone I know likes 4p the best for Ticket, except on the maps made for max 3p.
There's a reason 2 player continuously wins the votes for the Arena format.

I find 2-player is often an arena choice because it's easier to get games than wait for more players.
It also rewards playing better with winning more than formats with more than 2 players does. How you play has a greater impact on your chances of success, which a lot of players appreciate.
