It is very unlikely that chess players change their favourite chess site to BGA to play chess :)
Very possibly, but what about people who aren't serious chess players?

I'm fairly ticked off at this site right now, but even I can't figure out what the problem is about adding Chess. (The implementation is a different matter but I haven't seen it.)

I'm happy Chess has finally landed on BGA but surprised that CASTLING is not allowed in 960 fischer variant. Is it me or this feature is simply not implemented?

Hi ewjimmy,

Castling has been implemented in Chess960. As far as I know and tested, it works. Still, it was tricky to get and to implement, so there might of course be some bugs left. If you encounter a situation when it doesn't work, please screenshot it and use the bug report tool to let me know.

Cheers,

Hello Een! Thanks for your answer.
I've only tried the 960 variant a couple of times here at BGA and castling was denied to me every single time that the rules should allow it (pretty few times anyway). The only one I can recall happened yesterday, when I was playing whites and clicking on my king or my rook made no effect to complete the castling move. Here's the screenshot attached. The table number is 13968103
Hopefully it will help.

Thanks a lot! Congratulations on the nice job you're putting to keep the web running.

So, your right rook had moved so the only castling left was c-side.

Castling is always initiated with the king (chain of command and all that). In this case, the castling destination is merged with the king's normal move to C1. To enable castling when this is the case, the interface presents action links for castling in the status bar when the king has been selected (on the right of the [propose draw] link).

I checked and castling works in this configuration when using the action links, so I think that probably you just haven't noticed these links appearing when you clicked on the king.

Cheers,

Hi Een.
I had no idea about the appearining links for cases like this one. Now I'm ready to notice it next time!

Thanks a lot for the aclarations. You've been very kind and effective.

Cheers!
