Anyone else get sound in games on tablets or is it just me who doesn't? I reported it as a bug yesterday, but have had no response or acknowledgement that it is a bug. Is it, or a settings issue?
BGA for mobile and tablets
Re: BGA for mobile and tablets
Yes!!! Nearly unplayable now on phone or tablet and worse than before on PC due to huge load times.
bchang220 wrote:The new interface looks great, but ever since the update the site has been utterly unplayable on my mobile (iPhone 6 running iOS 9 using both Chrome and Safari) because the games take upwards of 5 minutes to load. The graphics all load within the first few seconds, and the rest of the time seems to be spent waiting for the turn history to load up -- the longer a game has been going, the slower it loads. Additionally, once the game finally loads, it gets stuck on "Move recorded, waiting for response" as soon as I make a move, forcing me to reload the page and therefore wait through the entire load time again.
Since the update games have also been slow to load on desktop, but not as terribly slow as on mobile.

Re: BGA for mobile and tablets
Hi,
I identified a possible cause for this slowness, but this is not linked with the mobile adaptation (and exists from months on the website).
Are you 100% sure the slow display did appears when mobile version was released (around December 26th) ?

Apple and Google disallow playing qound on browser when this is not the result of a direct interaction of the user. That's why we cannot play a sound during a game where all sounds are triggered by game actions.
I'm going to make this clear for these 2 OS.

Re: BGA for mobile and tablets
Furthermore it is near impossible to chat while on this mobile interface.
If you stay at the table after it had ended you can't see if the person you are chatting with is still there, so you might end up talking to yourself. If you decide to go to the main page (still at the table but not the ingame graphics) you can't write because whenever you write it automatically gets stopped when any other chat window opens, and that happens rather frequently because every single "xxx suggest you to play whatever" opens the main chat. So before you are able to write on you have to close the main chat. If it so happens that just in this moment someone at your table said something the table chat had opened again, and of course at the exact same spot, so you will close that one accidentally. Great.
Even if it hasn't closed you have to open it again, place the cursor at the spot again (can't do in one click If your writing has exceeded I've line) before being able to carry on with whatever you wanted to write.
If you open that chat again and more people write something at one you can read everything immediately, so you gotta scroll up again, but yay you aren't able to read the top comment in the chat because the message of scrolling down to see new messages is in the way and will stay there.
Really not comfortable and a lot better in the desktop version, even on mobile. I know it might not be easy to change for the better but at least let everyone decide which page design they want to use

Re: BGA for mobile and tablets
Thanks for the suggestion.
About performance issue : we just did an optimization that may accelerate a lot the loading of "game history".
ykruger, paciodv1, bchang220, can you check and see if this improve the situation?

This is still an issue.stupka wrote:I used to be able to play using my droid, but it is no longer possible with this update. I have tried using two different droid phones both using a chrome browser.
The games initially load with an empty game board and the opponents listed. The game the partially updates, listing clickable turn options at the top of their screen with a game board that is not fully updated. All opponents and their stats also dissaper and I am unable to complete my move by clicking on any of my turn options. My screen then freezes and I have to close the browser tab.
This issue is not specific to any particular game, it has happened with multiple different games.

Hi,
It looks that there are 2 issues here :
It looks that there are 2 issues here :
- A loading performance issue. We just did an optimization (today). If you had such a performance problem please check to see if this fixed the issue.
- stupka issue : I detect a potential conflict between mobile view and "display players panel on a second column" option. Can you try to disable this option and see if it solves the issue?
Re: BGA for mobile and tablets
That fixed it!
Thanks!
You have just greatly improved the entertainment level of my bathroom breaks at work.

It's not possible. I try to describe you the problem taking a game as example (stone age table 17631952, move 201, progress 33%) but it happens with all my game active.sourisdudesert wrote:Hi,
Can you provide a screenshot of the problem ?
You can send it to : contact (at) boardgamearena.com
Thanks
From BGA home page I try to load a game on my phone (samsung ace 2). in few time I see background of the game and few information about the player involved. There is nothing on the board. The loading never stop or it turns in a block.
