I know what you mean, but I think that is something of a BGA bug in not realising an old message has already been "read". There is a way to make it go away - I think maybe clicking in the box to open the full chat and then minimising again? Not ideal, but workable. Tof would need to confirm, but it may not be something the extension can help with, as I don't think the extension would know if a message has been written while you were offline, and only receiving ones new while you're online would mean you miss things. Actually, there are times when I swear the chat doesn't show me messages which have been there for a few days (and my partner complains about this too - he says he never sees chat messages), so I suspect determining if messages are "new" or not is more than a bit bugged.
In any case, this probably needs to be addressed as a site bug report - I did try searching for one, and found a very old one that's basically closed but searching for bugs can be difficult (since your search only matches to a phrase, not individual terms AND'd).

Opening and minimizing doesn't fix the issue. Unfortunately, BGA doesn't care about site bugs much, let alone new suggestions.

nick192 is right: I can't tell if any new messages have arrived.
But I'll try to think of a way to display the reduced chat so that it doesn't disrupt the game area.

In the "Friend's Tables" tab, would it be possible to only show those tables that I am allowed to join?
Right now, if a member from my group creates a table but restricts it to the members of another group, which I am not part of, extension still shows that table in the list.

Perhaps the easiest would be to make it slide down automatically, and slide up on hover - like Windows taskbar.

You're talking about a bug, not a suggestion, if you're talking specifically about the fact that it is showing messages that aren't new anymore. I would guess there's something about the check to tell if a message is new that's not working. From a BGA POV, I would expect that bug actually isn't too difficult to fix and so there is a chance that it may happen (though not if it's not raised in the bug tracking).
There is definitely some way that stops it from happening, but I haven't tested extensively enough to know what it is. I just know that it happens every now and again and then at some later point it stops happening.
And BGA do fix bugs, though I agree not as often as I'd like to see, and don't publicize that they're fixing them as well as they could. But as someone who works in software dev, fixing a bug is not just about how much people want it, it's about the effort to fix a bug against the benefit. Something like hiding the chat (completely) is a bit of a controversial one - there are plenty who think it isn't a good idea, and some reasonable reasons for that (one of which may be that it's probably not an easy task to do - ie. effort is high, benefit is debatable). So I agree with you, hiding the chat isn't likely to happen (but I'm not BGA admin, so who knows), but fixing a bug in the chat probably has slightly more chance.

Many bugs to hide the chat have been filed but, as expected, no fix, no reply, no acknowledgment from the site devs. This is not even the full list:
I didn't look at the full list, but I'd guess most of these are about turning the chat off altogether, not the fact that it pops messages that aren't actually new anymore, as I found lots about hiding the chat completely, but none at all about this that is clearly a bug.

@Tof63, it seems the dark mode for Toy Battle needs some tweaks. There are two big black rectangles on the main board, and also the blue text on the tooltips is quite difficult to read.

I have seen this yesterday yes, it's fixed in next version, coming soon!

Hello,
The next version will filter out tables you can't join if you're not in the right group!
