La Granja is such a beautiful and flexible game with various game mechanics working very well
i learned rules 3 days ago and already scoring over 80 points at the end, so as a experienced player i can say that it is very clever and interesting game to play
so dont let this one to slip away
learn the rules and play !
the only main and huge problem playing La Granja here on BGA is too little time to decide and calculate your moves, its just too little time for a game like this
this game lets you play many combinations and use many different options, and you must use those options very precisely and wisely in order to not fail and score a lot of points
for those calculation right now on BGA you dont have that time, mostly people go into time minus while annoying clock sound making them even more distracted and annoyed
i am waiting for players to make their move even if it is minus 5 min, but not all players will wait this long
you cant learn to play this game fast, maybe a little faster but thats still not enough, this game just requires more time to play, and that is the biggest enjoyment in La Granja, making crazy combinations and finding the most effective way of making resources as well as spending them
thats it, BGA please more wonderful games like this one and less those little not so interesting games

La Granja 10/10

re: Options
Can someone spell out specifically what the exact differences are between the Farm Phase settings on BGA?
Sequential, Simultaneous, Combined

Thanks!

Sequential: each player plays one step on the farm phase, then the turn goes the next player to plays the same step; and so on for each step. Undo is supported. Systematic and slow: probably not the best setting, except maybe to learn the game.
Combined: each player plays all the steps of the farm phase, then the turn goes to the next player. Undo is supported. Probably the best setting for turn based.
Simultaneous: all players play the farm phase simultaneously. Faster, but undo is not supported during the farm phase. Probably the best setting for real-time.

Upgraded pigs for other player not showing up for me

Post by Philomorph »

Being new to the game, we were playing "turn based" so we didn't need to worry about the timer, but with us both logged in and watching the game unfold.

Whenever my opponent upgraded his pigs to meat, his farm wouldn't reflect the change for on my screen. If he then shipped the meat to a barrow, the marker on his pig would animate and fly to the barrow, so it looked to me like he shipped a pig, but it filled the meat slot.

This isn't a big deal, but since it was his first game I was sort of teaching him how to play and it made it difficult to follow his moves when I couldn't see him upgrade them.

Is this a known issue?

Fun game, but I cannot finish this game w/out my timer expiring! I'm getting closer though. So much time I waste because I do the action, then I don't realize the game is waiting for me to hit several 'Pass' or something like that. Then come all the helper combo's and when they interact with "Take Anytime" actions. Plus there are a lot of cards to read. I imagine after a few more games, I'll finally start to see the cards repeat enough to not have to think about what they do. Then there is scrolling up and down to see opponents boards to see if they are getting ready to kick me out of the market.

Thanks for bringing it to BGA. Anything you can do to make the interface less wonky with all the pass actions (and still give action opportunity) would be awesome.

OK thanks for elaborating.

My next question surrounds solo play. I cannot figure out how the turn order works. According to the rulebook, only #2 and #3 turn tokens are used (an odd choice of itself, but whatever). Yet, while playing on BGA, suddenly #4 is used. And when I am #3 I seem to be the 1st player instead of the robot for selecting dice? And to be absolutely clear: what space is meant exactly by "3rd space of Siesta". Is it the 3rd region where you earn 2 VP or the actual 3rd disc space counting up from 0?

I would suggest to push questions with this level of precision to the La Granja forum so that the developer can answer directly :)
