CaKtus wrote: 25 December 2020, 12:18 For sure, you are a cheater and ALL your accounts should be banned and erased from rankings.

I understand you did not cheat directly by playing fake games between you and yourself.
But you did cheat anyway., in a more subtle way.
The evidence is that you are making your opponents lose elo points. When someone plays against a supposed beginner, he will lose a very high amount of elo points while if he had been playing against you (with your real ranking) he would have lost much fewer. So none of your rankings are honest.
Are you kidding me? Did you mean that I cheated because I used a new account with zero ELO but a high level game skill in order to raise my ELO and descend my opponent's ELO very fast?

So do you mean that everyone should never played a game offline before he plays the game at BGA? If it is the reality , of course everyone's first account will be totally fair, his ELO always fits his real level from the beginning.

But it is impossible. Actually I have already played offline <6 nimmts!> over 1000 times before I created the first account at BGA. And obviously the situation which samilar with mine is common. So could you answer the following question for me and the other players ——

If I just created my first account at BGA, how can I start playing <6 nimmt!> at BGA with both zero ELO and "No Cheating" ?
This is patent bad faith.

When you start with zero elo and high skill, you will inflict a few bad beats to some unlucky players but your ranking will improve very fast (all the more you have a K factor of 60) and it will balance fast. Doing it with 5 accounts is obviously cheating.

As already noted multiple times in this thread.
BGA report system wrote: It is acceptable to own several accounts on BGA, as long as it is reasonable and does not violate another rule of the website.
There was also a quote which mentioned that multiple accounts are not allowed. As your Quote uses the wording "does not violate another rule" and the other didn't the other rule is violated and therefor it's NOT acceptable for this purpose.

Did the ones of you who have multiple accounts use different emailaddresses?

BGA Delete Account Page wrote: Deleting your account is irreversible. All your rankings, trophies, statistics and Premium membership will be lost. You won't be able to register again with this email address on BGA.
It's strange that you are could have multiple accounts but are not allowed to register in a month or later if you delete your account.

As most of you mentioned debugging as a use of multiple accounts: Did you know that even developers are not allowed additional accounts for testing purposes and instead should use testing accounts in the development environment?

Back to the original poster of this thread: You disguise yourself with different languages, countries and other fake data in your profile. For the stated purpose you wouldn't need this. Instead you could write in your bio what your up to and everyone who doesn't like this ... behaviour could block your accounts.

So...

Legal page (https://boardgamearena.com/legal): "The Player agrees to hold only one account on BGA, unless otherwise approved by BGA. We reserve the right to terminate any multiple accounts attributable to the same person."
This is kind of prohibiting having extra accounts, even 1, for any reason.

F.A.Q. (https://boardgamearena.com/faq): "On Board Game Arena, it is absolutely forbidden to create multiple accounts and play against oneself to boost one's ranking."
The wording in this one is a bit vague, but still less vague than the next one.

Moderation Policy page (https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Moderationpolicy): "Penalty Grid Category: Multiple accounts; Case type: A player is using multiple accounts (most of the time: to boost his ELO rank); Details: The report must contain the usernames of all intimidated accounts, and the reason why the report author thinks that multiple accounts are used. It is very difficult to find out if different accounts correspond to different persons. For example: BGA accepts that multiple players play from the same IP address, to allow people from the same family to play at the same table. In addition, some players are using multiple accounts, but these accounts are not playing together (which is acceptable). Strong tools are available for moderators to detect multiple accounts that are used the wrong way. To detect multiple accounts, you should focus on ELO boosting, which is the reason of the multiple accounts 99% of the time. You should look at player game history, for a given game, and look at frequent opponents with a very good / perfect win rate; Standard penalty: For secondary accounts: ban forever. For main account: ELO reseted to 1500 / ELO penalty for all games."
In my opinion, this is the most vague reference to multiple accounts, on BGA, and obviously, the one the Original Poster used, in his defence.

Not "kind of", it quite specifically says that as a part of creating an account on BGA you agree to only have one account. That is unless approval is given.

Basically just a "don't play against yourself to increase your ranking"

Moderator directions with the sole focus on ELO boosting. Recognizes that multiple people with the same IP may have accounts on BGA and that some players are using multiple accounts which is acceptable provided they haven't been used to play together.

Yeah... 3 different sources on the same site, contradicting themselves. If it was to go with the LEGAL PAGE, any extra account should be banned.

They don't really contradict each other.

The Legal page is conditioned on that you get approval for multiaccounts.
The report system messages allows multiaccounts on the condition that it is "reasonable" and not in violation of other rules. In addition to being allowed to create another account should you be moderated.
The FAQ specifically states that you aren't allowed to play against yourself to increase your rank.
The Moderationpolicy excludes multiaccounts from moderation for the sole reason that they are multiaccounts.

In my opinion, after reading all sources, i cannot understand if i would be allowed to make another simultaneous account or not. And i find the information vague... And if i made another account without using it to boost elo, i don't understand if it would be ok to be moderated for it, with the extra account being banned.

Short: There is no 100% clear info on what should be done about multiaccount situations! I doubt that all players who currently have multiple accounts, got approval (as it is written in the legal page), and i also doubt the original poster got such approval. So i think it should be made clear in regards to multipple accounts, with clear details, examples and situations, which would not contradict themselves or remain shallow.

You can reasonably assume that what you have done is permissible. You have been given no authority over it.

This is also not a new or unknown issue. Though it is a first in regards to the 'offender' publicly admitting to it with the seeming support of the moderation.
