I made sure I was being polite and said "Please be aware of the time settings of the table, if you aren't able to play within the turn limits maybe we should all agree to abandon the game?" And then requested we abandon the game which someone declined.
A couple days later the player was in the red (but played their turn before I saw and ejected them) and I said "Not to be rude, but as a mater of course I don't continuing games where player's are in the red, it's not worth playing through the game just to risk someone kicking them on the last turn. If the game isn't going to go to conclusion anyway maybe we should agree to abandon it now?" (Translation: I will kick this player as soon as I have the opportunity), and we then agreed to abandon (player in red wasn't given a say).

It's being ruse that gets you reported. As long as you're polite you're fine.
And politeness is opinionated. There are posters here who believe you are giving orders, complaining, or impolite for suggesting the player play faster while they were in the green. I'm going to assume the majority of reports are level 0-1 "insults" and a lot of that is opinionated which is why the moderation system is flawed. I wish I could post moderation reports. My friend was just moderated for saying hello
