If you think you're not going to enjoy the game you can always play it friendly mode and then quit if you really don't like it. There will be no penalty and you still get credit.

The new awards is a step in a great direction but playing all 4 games is a bit unfair, especially the long Euros. I have played ages of invovation offline, it's not my type of game. 4 hours clicking a button and giving folk a bad game is unfair to the people who enjoy that type of game.

How about if you played at least half the games.

We regret that your brilliance wasn't duly recognized.

This ^^^. I am credited for aoi. I opened it once in alpha and quit without actually playing.

I understand the argument of looking into a game and knowing it isn't your type. Therefore, not wanting to actually play it. But forcing people to actually play the games they are voting on is much improved compared to last year.

Next year they need to release this sooner to give people more time. Or push it back a month. I don't see the need to rush to get results in.

I play regularly 2 of the expert games and I wish I could vote... but 10 days is way too short to hope to learn and play 2 more expert games. We should have had more prior notice to have time to learn.

I think there should be also a category 'people's choice' and you can choose ONE from ANY of the games released in 2024. (and you don't have to have played all of them of course)

LeifGo wrote: 20 January 2025, 16:12 Hey everyone,

Thanks for the feedback on this year's BGA Awards! We wanted to give you all a chance to play the games before voting, so we made the list a bit shorter compared to last year and added more time (10 days vs. 1 week).

However, we got your feedback and understand that 10 days is a bit tight for some games (looking at you, Age of Innovation), so we're extending the voting deadline to Monday, February 3rd.

Now go forth and play!

Have fun :)
Thank you for extending the deadline! I've got casual done now, and hope to complete one more category.

I understand people who want to vote without trying every game, but at the same time I think it's unfair to games if they rank lower simply because fewer people have tried them. And who knows - you may find another great game!

I also like this year's modification that people vote only on the categories they most care about / invest in.

Battle Saga is so bugged we had to abandon our very first game : I played a "flash" spell card but could pay for it... and impossible to undo.
Too bad. we would have wanted to vote for this 2p category.

Having already played three of the four games in the Animals category, I tried the fourth and have discovered that it is definitely my favourite. Which is nice :D
