This is only a medium weight game, and if you know Pandemic you are already half way to understanding the rules. It's a stretch to say that ten characters to choose from is limiting and constraining. That's 45 combinations of characters you could choose for your two, without then considering the overall combos of your pair interacting with other players pairs. This compared to Pandemic which I think had six characters.
This is not a game of grand long term strategy, as the cards and dice will trash any plans you have. It's staying fluid and responding to board state
