I think they felt they didn't have enough reasons for people to blame them for missing it and they wanted one more.

I appreciate that increasingly 'internet' connections are normal. But this is an international platform. Life and circumstances vary widely even in local communities. I would strongly urge you to make the following reward tiers only: 1 day, 1 weekend, 1 7 day streak. Potentially you could make a 'number of boxes' opened for the entire platform - that way everyone is working together to like 'open the big box'. This is also a bit more fun from a gameplay point of view.

I think you are reading way to much into that. They are cautioning everyone to use sunscreen as your skin can't just turn on dark mode and avoid getting burnt.
