I think the most convenient solution which could be a good trade-off for all and if tisaac can easily implement it, is a once/twice extra minute button or so

You have to figure out different ways of playing.

Unfortunatley, it is simply not true to can play stranger after stranger here and get consistantely good experiences. You have to learn to put up with getting kicked out at the last minute like this, cause some people are like that.

What you can control is *who* you play. Look back at your favorite games where the other player had the type of attitude/ game play you prefer. Invite that player to become friends and play them instead of strangers.

Maybe don't focus on your ELO numbers so much. It can make you crazy all the ways others can cheat over that number! There should be a fun measure instead.

My friends and I have started creating mini tournaments of 1:1 in games we enjoy together. That gives us the convenience os games continuing to start as one ends, a little taste of friendly competition, and guaranteed good people to play with.

Don't let this site that is supposed to increase your fun in life become stressful. Look for ways to make it work for you- as it is. We have no control over getting things we dont like changed and it may never happen the way you want anyway.

for me, it has nothing to do with ELO numbers. it has to do with investing an hour or more into a game and then being unable to see it through, to see your final score/how well you did as you should be.

You're not wrong as to suggest 'work-arounds' to the problem.

But it's not meant to be like that, if something should be fixed, or enhanced then shouldn't we ask for that?

This is a definite problem with this game. (6 pages of complaints). The BGA one-size fits all approach just doesn't work here.

The 'undo' feature should not restore the time of the players turn. And then giveExtraTime() feature would work.

I could be wrong with this assertion, but has anybody got a better idea?

Sadly I really dont think this is technically possible currently.

I am extremaly furious about this timer issue.
https://boardgamearena.com/7/arknova?table=409610599#

Had extremaly complicated boardstate and there was no way I could finish up my turn and multiple extra turns in that time. And since my opponent got scared he kicked me out...

I especially love the
Thinking time 19:38 15:49

Yeah the guy with 15:49 was apparantly such a slow player that system had to kick him out...

This is one reason I have no desire to play Ark Nova online. Having played the game at my table, I do not think it would convert well to digital format. Too large, time needed to think (especially when actions chain). Too much scrolling around to see everything (my assumption, as I have not tried it).

I have run into the same timer issue with game on here where you play as a team and need time to discuss things. Turn based play would not work as an alternative to the timer for those types of games.

Why dont you try it before juding it then ? Just start a solo game and you will see that it does indeed convert pretty well to a digital format, taking only necessary space.
Also, people seems to forgot that you can choose your speed setting when creating/joining a table. So yeah, doing chained actions can sometimes put you in the red when playing in fast mode, since you are capped at ~3min, which is what is mainly discussed here, but otherwise it's pretty fine and is doing its job of ensuring a given speed of play.

thats what im talking about. it is just bad that you can kick a player who played a lot faster than you overall, just because he needs 1 longer turn.
