I've decided to stop playing backgammon for now. Hope you guys manage to fix it. A game which should take 5 minutes now takes 15. It's just not worth it.

Terrible interface. Slow. How can we get th old Backgammon back - if you want to "improve" it, create a separate game.

As it gets worse and worse, here´s an update of my previous post:

After having played quite some games now with the update, I would like to confirm/add the following pro´s and con´s, though the con´s really have taken the lead by far:

positive:
- undo function
- size can be modified now
- doubling cube (though unfortunately not in Arena modus yet, maybe next season something like "first to 3 points" is possible, would definitely upgrade the competitive modus)

negative:
- very very slow gameplay... moves get sent to server and that takes way too much time (hello, we´re in the year 2024, aint we?)
- very bad graphics still (as others mentioned, reminds more of the 90s from a first year graphic design student who didnt attend many classes yet)
- sound disappears
- resign of games often not possible, my last game was stuck at 31% though it was close to the end)
- still way to many "pasches"
- progress not working at all lately - from the beginning 0%
- rolls are not shown in the history, its like blank
- extreme downtime because the added time for each move is way too much - games easily take 10-15min now together with the server sync problems and all the other issues
- progress in every game is currently shown with 0% - even when 50 or 90% should be shown - so if a player quits now, even for a safe win I receive 0% ELO points

I really wonder: is there some real playtesting? Why was there no communication with the frequent players beforehand? Somebody just publishes an update and then everything gois down the drain?

As I have described in my previous post, the confirm button is already now in the middle of the board! Just click on the dice after you made your moves and the moves are confirmed...
From my one game yesterday the Undo / Confirm buttons displayed above the board. I’m cautious to try playing again on my phone but may try again on PC and will check again then.
I just played on PC and the experience was still poor.

For me the Confirm button remains at the top of the screen, alongside Undo. A white box on a white background, and on some moves I still forgot to click it and ran down my timer.

As others report, the progress stayed at 0% and my opponent was unable to concede once it was obvious they had lost. That's a shame, as forced us both to play on needlessly.

I tried the "one click" setting which seemed ok, but then sometimes the dice presented as low-high, rather than always being high-low. I'm ok with the two clicks to be honest so turned off one click.

I could not view my opponents dice rolls in the game log.

I can see other board styles. I thought the red/yellow rough looking board was the default, but now see it's one of four. TBH the others all massively underwhelmed and the graphics, including a 3-D board option, should be achieveable with a little design effort by BGA.

I hope BGA takes on board the user input/feedback in recent days and reworks the approach to this once good game.

Not sure if I worded it very well:

The dice, that are shown in the middle of the board have the confirm funcionality. There is no button "Confirm" in the middle of the board but the dice are in the middle of the board! After you made your move you can click on the greyed out dice and your move is confirmed. It is not necessary to move your mouse to the top of the screen and hit the "Confirm" button.

This new version has been programmed by the same person that has programmed the old version. He has already aknowledged the problem of the slow sending of moves to the server (see bug reports). I am grateful to him for giving us the old and the new version. For me it is an improvement.

That the game log is not working is a serious bug that is known and hopefully attended in the next few days/weeks.

I've never made a forum post and I never will again.

I am comfortable knowing that I will leave this earth having devoted 100% of my forum posts to just how terrible an update this is.

That's it. That's the post.

I love the new match game! This is real backgammon with all the options of doubling and round resigning! Not just the kids version of single point game.

I struggled at first with setting it up comfortably. What works well for me is:
One click moves
Confirming by clicking the dice
Auto moves on
Fast animation
Classic look
Locking the doubling cube as long as I don't see I might wanna double
(Thx euklid for the hints)

Suggestions to improve:

Sending move to server delay

Add game options description
(What is jeu hypergammon? What is with/without pips and hints? And some players might need what is doubling cube?)

Confirm by click on dice should also work for the small gap between the dice.

On mobile (android) its sometimes difficult to hit the piece. I sometimes get little marks where i could move the piece but it doesn't move it although i set 1click-moves on.

It's great that the setup-settings are remembered. Can you add remembering my board size too? I have to adapt size in every game now.

Thx a lot to the developer to make this new version available! It's been requested a lot and finally we got it. I hope you're willing to do some final tweaks although a part of this community is so harsh and disrespectful.

I don't care for the new version but whatever, I'll get used to it. But a BIG FAT "confirm" button located to the right of the board above the white flag would be nice. Perhaps it could even blink until clicked. Many players forget to hit "confirm".

All the fun of the game has been sucked out. I would have a quick game here and there, and that's no longer possible as everything is so slow.
Main issues I have:
- undo/confirm: have an option to disable this as not everyone wants it
- why is it so slow now??
- graphics: it looks like it's take a trip to the 90s
- concede option: With the forfeit button, the opponent can reject this, adding to the slow, painful loss.

It wasn't broken, so why have we fixed it? Sure, add a cube and matches for those who want it, but don't spoil it for those who were happy with it.
