More feedback, now that it's all over:

It felt strange to me that who was first player and faction selection were done at random for each game, rather than being some kind of rotation. I think my ideal, for a Tash-Kalar tournament, would be something like tennis:

- The first round, you toss a coin to see who is 'leader' in each match. The leader can determine player order OR determine who picks their faction first. The other player makes the other choice.

- In later rounds, if one player has been 'leader' fewer times than the other, they are leader for this round. Otherwise, flip a coin.

I personally prefer Highland, second choice Sylvan. In 8 rounds, I drew Empire six times, and Sylvan twice. Did this make the tournament unfair? No, the rules were the rules, and I knew them going in. But it made the whole thing less fun. And fun is the best, right?

A tiebreaker other than pre-existing Elo rating might also be a good idea.
