Re: 🌿ELO System Updates

Did they just close the bug?
It was changed to a suggestion with the comment that the behaviour is intended - which I think means they read it as "we don't like the new ELO calculations" as opposed to "the formula on screen does not reflect the actual ELO calculation being performed". I don't know why that also meant all the info and comments disappeared, but it does indicate BGA admin are paying attention, just choosing not to respond. Which seems to be standard for decisions that people don't like (regardless of how many people care) - they ignore until the dissenters go away.
This was your last comment, followed by MONTHS of no communication. I understand now this is deliberate, it just paints a very sad overall picture of incompetence (implementing a flawed ELO calculation) and ignorance (lack of communication for many months). Everyone deserves better, both the players (and not just the ones who raised their voice in this topic), and also yourself, who have now become associated with incompetent decisions and unkept promises. I hope one day BGA chooses to introduce a corporate culture of good decision-making, responsive action, good communication and transparency - in line with what your own words paint above, and in sharp contrast with what actually happened so far.lordalx wrote: ↑15 March 2024, 09:14 We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback regarding the ELO system. We're always listening to your feedback and working to make Board Game Arena the best place to play. Keep those messages coming!
It also says that if you play against the same opponent the ELO you gain will gradually reduce. Going to 100% loss of ELO gain in six games is not "gradual"..."When your rank is "Strong" or higher, and you don't play for an extended period, your ELO score will decrease over time.
I think most of the originally active participants in this discussion have already left the stage of Anger and are in Bargaining ("please at least do K-Factor adaption in both direction, not just when same player wins") or Depression ("I don't care about BGA anymore"). I myself am very close to Acceptance ("BGA just isn't what it could be, but hey - I can still play games here, let's focus on that"). (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_stages_of_grief
I entered "acceptance" a while ago.Silene wrote: ↑03 July 2024, 22:00I myself am very close to Acceptance ("BGA just isn't what it could be, but hey - I can still play games here, let's focus on that"). (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_stages_of_grief)
