Hi,

I just wanted to say that it sucks a bit that people who aren't members can no longer see their own ratings. I understand you want to make people become member by doing this, but this mostly make me want to play less on BGA. I don't mind not being able to see other players rank if you aren't member, but you should at least know what rank you are personally. Well these are my thoughts anyway.

I also hate this - it feels like they are trying to strong-arm us into becoming members and it makes me resentful. Allowing everyone to see their ELO would also allow for cool functionality like limiting players in your games to specific ELO windows instead of just arbitrary player levels (Good, Expert, etc.). Oh well. They would get my money in a heartbeat if they would just fix game rules/UI problems before doing stuff like A/V chat and site redesigns; some of the problems with my favorite games have been there for years.

My advice is to ask a friendly paying member what your ELO is, or stop caring.

People generally ask me how many ELO has in X game...

But you know, get BGA online isn't cheap and admins should pay every month -i forgot how many server they have now-...

Why admins can't just add ads or something -> "Click in this ad and in this ad to get possibility to see ur elo for 1 day (restarting in 24hours)"

Another strange thing : if you stop playing for 60 days, you can see your rating.
The message I see is: "to see your rating on BGA, stop playing on BGA"...

Just one point : we changed nothing. Regular members can't see their ratings since BGA exists.

I see the message as: "If you care more about rating than about playing the games please stop playing here. "

Yes but... why not? It is depriving even paying members from potential improvements to the site, and (at least in my case) builds ill will and makes me LESS likely to ever pay you. So... what is the rationale for hiding it? I am genuinely curious. Hiding things like statistics and other players' ELOs makes sense to an extent; I just can't grasp the logic of not letting people see their own ELO.

I can't see the logic of spending one's time to code games and paying for server time and allowing people to use those for free.

If you want to see your ELO, the current rules state that you need to A) become a member, B) not play for a period of time, or C) create a new account every so often and lose whatever you have gained so far on the site. Complaining that "Hey, this free stuff you are giving me isn't as good as what I want" leads to financial instability.
