Beginner Forgiveness/Games Played for Penalty

Hello,

I recently was playing with a friend and the site was messing up, so I took it upon myself to quit the game. I didn't realize this caused a penalty, and noticed it only forgives penalties after 60 days. That feels a little harsh to a brand new player who just started. I suggest one of two things:

Either a) Have a one time forgiveness for a Beginner, you quit a game prematurely because we just don't know.
b) Have games played supersede one penalty. If a person quit a game once, or timed out once, and played 99 more games without doing either, that seems a good indicator it was an anomaly and very forgivable. This should be an automated thing.

If you play 99 games to the end no one cares about the 1 game you left. You don't get the warning line and it's really no problem to have few reputation entries every now and then. It will be gone after 60 days anyway and it's not a big deal to have it some time as long as it's very few compared to your total number of games.

For beginners I totally agree with you that the system should go more easy on them. I don't like 1-time-forgiveness because it doesn't help understanding how the system works. But the warning line should really not show up for something like 5 games played, 1 left. Or 15 green thumps and 2 red. Etc.

Agreed with Silene. No need to forgive, as the system is set up for forgiveness of anomalies, but the percentage report and game restrictions shouldn't appear until you've played a certain number of games or received a certain number of ratings. "This player quits 40% of games" is not a fair thing to say when a player only has 5 games on their record.

I actually ran into this myself with thumbs, when I was a new player on BGA. I got a red thumb in one of my very first games, and so I was like 1 red to 6 greens, and I wasn't able to join other people's games for a while because I was over 10% red thumbs. I almost quit the site because of it. (I'm glad I didn't)
