speed of game replay

Is there any method to slow down the replay of a game in progress? I wanted to study specific moves in a game. I see no way to either stop the replay at a point (then continue), or to change the rate of replay.

It has been a while since I used the replay feature, but from what I remember....
There are a few methods for advancing turns. One can advance to the end of game, which has the game perform an action, wait a moment, and then perform the next action. This is what it sounds like you are doing. This is the triangle with a vertical bar.
One can also advance a move at a time. This is slow and tedious, and requires clicking quite a bit. This is the double triangle.
Or, one can advance an action at a time. This is even slower an more tedious. This is the single triangle.
The difference between action at a time and turn at a time applies to when a player has several actions on one turn. For example, in Stone Age, placing meeples is both a turn and an action, as when it is done the next player takes their turn. However, using meeples is an action, not a turn, as after a player uses their first meeple, it is still their turn.
Now, underneath all of this is a link, "Go to move..." Clicking this will open an input box where you can type in a specific move number. The game will advance like it does when going to the end of the game, but will stop on a specific turn and return playback control to you. This is probably the function you are looking for.

Another thing you can do is to put the replay in "auto forward" mode (either with the triangle with a vertical bar or the "Go to move..."), but when it reaches a point where you want a slower pace, you click on the simple play button (single triangle) and then you're back to step-by-step.

There is no play button / triangle / bars for a game that is still in progress. For those you can only use the history on the right side of the screen to jump into replay for which it's not possible to regulate the speed.

Oh. My bad, I missed that part about a game in progress.
