Cheating in Jaipur?

I am new here, so I would like to ask for your patience, but is cheating or hacking a problem here? I was playing a game of Jaipur, and my opponent sold the last of his goods, leaving him with no cards in his hand, and a single camel. Suddenly, he had five cards in hand, and all the cards in the market were camels. I had no other play than to take the camels, allowing my opponent to trade for three diamonds.

I can find nothing in the rules that explain this, so I am left with the possibility of cheating or hacking. I would like to know if other people have experienced anything similar. As I said, I'm new here, so if people aren't going to play fairly, I don't want to waste my time by staying.

the 'single' camel is a stack of camels ... he just traded 5 of the camels in his stack for the cards on the board.
