Can't stop - BGA Robot ELO issue

Hi,

As several of you noticed, there have been a bug with BGA Robot and Can't Stop. You are not supposed to win ELO points when playing against an AI on BGA, but because of this bug it was not the case.

We fixed this bug today.

This is not a "real" issue as BGA Robot is only a very bad AI for learning purpose only, but unfortunately, some players used this to boost their ELO.

We considered that this is not the fault of players if there was a bug, and that some of these players used this method "just because the others were doing the same". So we don't want to "punish" anyone here, but still we have to do something for players at the top of the leaderboard, because this affect the overall leaderboard of Can't Stop so this is not fair for the others players.

We apply the following process, which I think is fair. We considered only the 25 players that won more than 100 ELO points against BGA Robot, and who had a ELO greater than 1750. For these 25 players, we removed the ELO points won against BGA Robot, while making sure that the ELO will not be set to a value lower than 1750 in the process (this is why 22 of these 25 players has now an ELO of 1750).

Hope you understand what we've done, and really sorry for this bug with the Robot.

Thanks for the update. I only discovered the bot this week and so I figured this was normal behaviour. Fortunately, not only have you taken a fair approach to remedying the ELO situation, I am too rubbish at Can't Stop to be a factor

Thank you for fixing this! I'm glad that the bug was fixed and the rankings are more accurate and fair now.

My confidence in BGA is restored; this is a well thought out fair solution. No one is at fault, these are just the kind of things that happen with software. Again, thanks so much for addressing this issue.

Now the bug happens again, a player whose ELO is/was 1500 was unranked.

Maybe that delete the bot is easier.

Not fair for the bot.

well, it's better but not perfect. We really should start naming names becuause at this point it's well known that this is a bug and that taking advantage is cheating.

Some games are elo off and some are elo on. For instance [this player], last 10 games all against the robot have elo off 7 times, elo on 3 times. So, he's gained 14 elo in 10 games. quite a nice haul when you're 1800 or above and very low risk of losing elo.

Tables elo on:

#24173567
#24173208
#24161249

Tables elo off:
#24161838
#24173705
#24179198

Dear fellow Cant stop player, KaosBombix!
I would like to inform you that I was top1 BEFORE i even played against the robot and BEFORE i discovered (in other players history) that it is possible to get ELO against the robot. My score was not set back as it is described in news, because the positive score was taken but the negative is not. This mean I have earned ~100 pts with robot and now lost ~400. I dont cry about it because I know I can easily rebuild this score, I do not need the robot for it.

If you want to play against an experienced player, than should invite me into your game instead of crying here.
Best Regards: Torin
