While it is "the season," and many people enjoy dressing for the festivities, please do not force people to show support for a holiday with strong religious overtones by placing hats on their pictures. Please either remove the hats, or at least make it an option for members to choose the hat or the standard ribbon.

However, if you go to preference/avatar and choose to remove the yellow ribbon, it will remove the hat as it is the same logic.

Christmas hat has nothing in common with religion. Or you think when Jesus was born people cut down a fir tree, dressed red hats and started to celebrate?
Maybe you find in the holy book such an episode

The most sensible solution is to simply offer users the option to add a hat while leaving no-hat as the default. Since in the real world most people would like to be asked before having a hat put on their head, shouldn't it be the same here?

As this is a game site, and not a religious site, we should be careful how we proceed with the discussion so it doesn't descend into a flame war.

I do not mind others observing their beliefs. What I objected to was being forced to show support for those beliefs. As I have been shown a method to remove the hat image, I feel this matter is resolved.

Actually most people like to see these hats, they cheered up them. And this does not mean that all these people go to church.

I talked about hats, I'm quite sure that red hats and fir trees have nothing in common with religion. You can pretend that you will not celebrate Christmas, but people celebrate it not because they believe in God. They use a holiday to meet relatives and friends and spend time together. Even in Soviet Union where religion was strictly forbidden people dressed red hats and celebrated New Year day.

Red hats and fir trees may not originally have had anything to do with religion. However, today they are closely associated with Christmas. Fir trees are not decorated during the rest of the year, and red stocking caps with white trim are not worn in late January, even though it is just as cold. Chocolate rabbits have nothing to due with resurrection, but it would be difficult to convince many people where I live (United States of America) that they have nothing to do with Easter.

Just like you can pretend not to celebrate Ramadan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Yom Kippur, Beltane, or any number of days from other religions.

So you are saying that forcing me to wear a red hat brings back memories of the Soviet Union under Lenin, and this is a good thing?


Here is the issue:
An action has been forced on me and others that has been deemed to be offensive.
I am not requiring that others stop that action themselves, I was requesting that I not have to do that action.
As far as I am concerned, BGA resolved the issue when sourisdudesert showed how to remove it.

You finally understand it. Christmas became a part of the year for the most of people, not a religion holiday.

I am not requiring that others stop that action themselves, I was requesting that I not have to do that action.

You did it when you asked to remove the hats.
