What are rules to add/minus points?
Is it connected only ranking ? or also points from game?
I dont understand why sometimes i lost so many ranking points even i lost by 1 point in game.
If it is only based on ranking it shoult be presented on the beggining game (before accepting).
If I know that for last place I can lost 40 points I wouldn't play.

But ELO system is created for chess. Chess is based on brain skill. Most board games are also based on random elements. So copy rules isn't fer. If J play with low rated player and he wins 1 point more because superb composition, so it isn't fer to take me 60 ranking points. I played few times in carcassone, when my competitor get all 6 monastery (my translation to English from Polish). In this situation it is very hard to win. In this situation I win only 2 times. So in my opinion ELO system should be very amended to situation that board games are random games.

The logic in not putting it at the beginning of the game is because it's not related to the game itself. i.e. this has nothing to do with Carcassonne. It's the same for every game so it's a "site-wide" thing, and not a "per-game-thing." Furthermore, unless you're seriously familiar with how the math works, you still would not have known you would lose 40 points. If you want to understand site-wide issues, read the FAQs and look around the site for more information. i.e. due diligence and all that.

And it's not affected by your score in the game, no. You could win/lose by just a tie, or by 50 points, and the ELO gain/loss will be the same, so I've always figured it'll even itself out over time. (The two other places I play don't do skill scores based on your score in the game either.)

if it isn't connected with game and points in game so it may be possible to calculate how many ranking points gamer can get/lose for each place - before accepting of start game. It would help me.

You first need to decide what you are looking for...

You are both making a complaint that ELO isn't appropriate for all the games on here like it may be for Chess. There's already lots of threads on how well ELO works (or doesn't work). Carcassonne does have a randomness factor, but all players have to deal with that same randomness and over the long term, it should work itself out. And there's plenty of argument already here about applying something meant for a 2 player game to multi-player games. If you'll look around, it should be easy to find some of these threads.

You're also stating you want how these calculations are made to be put on each of the games here, so that you will know ahead of time you're going to lose 40 points if you come in last place. There are different variations of ELO, but you're essentially proposing that something like:

https://metinmediamath.wordpress.com/20 ... g-example/
OR
http://gobase.org/studying/articles/elo/

or something similar be posted on every invite? (Along with an explanation of the k-rating they use, which they've changed, how they do this for multi-player games, and how the 100 minimum fits in, etc.) There's certainly nothing wrong with having that posted somewhere on the site, but you're proposing these calculations be posted on every game invite? Seems a bit over-kill, and a lot of room to take up. That could also be confusing for turn-based, since it won't end for quite some time and those ELO's will have changed by then.
