Didn't hear "someone joins table" alert

I use Chrome version 56 under Linux Mint 64 bit. When I am in another browser tab from my game window which is also BGA, I hear the sound alert if someone enters my game. But I apparently DON'T hear it from a tab in a different site. Does anyone else experience this?
