Seeking Hive players for an online research study!
Posted: 03 March 2017, 15:31
Hi folks!
My name is Joe Wasserman. I am a graduate student researcher at West Virginia University. Dr. Nicholas Bowman is supervising this research project as part of my pursuit of a Ph.D. in Communication Studies. I’m conducting a research study on how people’s perceptions of strategy in Hive change with experience.
I’m a huge boardgame nerd myself—you can see my BoardGameGeek profile here: https://boardgamegeek.com/user/Mymil
For this study, we’re looking for people aged 18+ who have ever played Hive even once to take one online survey, which should take about 30-60 minutes (depending on how much time you spend on each question).
In exchange for participating in the study, everyone who completes the survey will be able to enter in a drawing for a $50 Amazon or Funagain Games gift certificate.
As gamers ourselves, both Dr. Bowman and I understand you may have some hesitation related to security and privacy. I assure you that the surveys will not collect any information that could compromise your game accounts or personal information. The survey includes mostly multiple-choice questions with a few optional open-ended questions where you can choose to offer your thoughts. At no time will the survey request personally identifying information, except optionally for your email address in order to award the gift certificate (and email addresses will be kept strictly confidential, according to regulations protecting research participants). Participation is voluntary and confidential.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM me here or by email at the address provided after the link.
Once this study is complete, I will definitely be sharing the results on the BGA forums!
Thank you!
